The 26th anniversary of the County Federation of Women’s Clubs will be held at Williamsburg Presbyterian Church on Thursday June 3 with morning and afternoon sessions. Memorial Services Held at M E Church With Sermon
Memorial services were conducted at the M E church Sunday night with Rev Burdsall delivering the sermon assisted by Revs Smith and McCulloch. Music included orchestra organ and a duet by Miss Walker and Brice Hendrixson. Soldiers attending included six late war veterans five Spanish American one retired officer and one or two Civil War veterans and six auxiliary members. The services were described as fine.

Four Men Hurt In Cannon Dedication Parade
Four Virginia men riding a trailer were seriously injured when a gasoline motor pulled trailer jumped the track along the N and W railroad during a dedication day ceremony. Two men sent home by evening train. two remained in Afton under Dr Van Horn care. Decoration Day events followed with cannon dedication, Band from Batavia, and ball game 10 to 3 in Batavia. Flowers cast for Navy dead. Union cemetery praised. Decoration day observances across nearby towns.

U B church building bought for new home and cottages

Dog electrocuted by lightning tied to clothes line
A dog in Millard McNutt's yard at Williamsburg died after a lightning strike during an electrical storm toppled a cherry tree. A wire clothes line, fastened to the tree, held the dog by a chain and caused fatal electrocution without notice or pain.

Regular Meeting of County Commissioners May 24 Items
The County Commissioners held a regular session on May 24 approving numerous payments for auditor supplies payroll and bridge culvert repairs. Items include Brown Pub Co auditor supplies Elmer Leslie lanterns and a dog fund transfer. May 31 declared a legal holiday and surveyor authorized to hire a grader operator. Tobacco Going Out In This Locality Due To Grub Worm Damage
The tobacco crop is rapidly going out with some fields harvested and replanted because grub worms are causing severe damage. Farmers report abundant plants and plan to set the weed soon. Some plots still plant corn while others prepare soy beans amid soil readiness challenges. A large tobacco acreage is anticipated.
Lightning Strikes Damaging Storm Scatters Across Area
During a Sunday electrical storm, lightning struck the smoke stack of the new school building causing light damage and then hit the cupola on the U B church with considerable damage. Barns of Ed Trost and Adam Myers near Williamsburg also were struck, requiring about 10 000 shingles to repair.
