The EPA reports approval of a 1.8 mgd sewage plant in extreme southwest Clermont County along with pump stations and new sewers, eliminating two package plants and extending service to unsewered areas. Plans await federal approval and bid invites follow the public hearing transcript.
The Clermont County Welfare Department receives 1977 budget boosts in income maintenance and social services but faces cuts in local matching funds. Income maintenance totals 316 958 for six months, projected to 916 000 yearly. social services up 66 172 to 302 870. Day care gets 125 784. emergency funds stay at 155 589. If the 30 percent local-match cut holds, programs may shrink though none will be eliminated. officials say the changes merely maintain current levels.
The Clermont County Human Services Board asks the Community Services Administration for direct funding of 65 820 for dental care and 121 747 for medical clinics. They cite greater local control and a desire to end the delegate role of CAC after 10 years.
UC researchers led by Dr. Calvin Linnemann study Rocky Mountain spotted fever ticks in Clermont County. The survey focuses on Bethel area and Tate Township, seeking ticks for testing by a new leg-fluid microscope method. Residents urged to call Mrs. Sharon Warfield at 625-8648 with tick findings.
Miss Aletheia Pattison daughter of former Ohio governor John M Pattison transferred 18 acres with a log cabin and a lodge seating 400 to Clermont County Park Board four years ago. The Pattison Recreation Center will honor the family with public lectures on nature study and outdoor recreation valued at about half a million dollars including a $200000 lodge.
Buckley, appointed director, expects no major changes soon. He notes growth raises subdivision activity and stresses building on past work while awaiting completion of the county land use plan and model zoning code. He recalls earlier projects, grants, and a shift from a bedroom community to a growth center.
