Brown Predicts 136 000 Youths Voting In Ohio Elections

Secretary of State Ted W. Brown told the Cincinnati conference that about 25 percent of 556 075 Ohioans aged 18 to 21 could vote if they register and turn out. He forecast 136 000 electors and urged statewide registration to ease college voting rules.

LP Gas Meter Testing Schedule in Clermont County

Clermont County will have LP gas meters tested next week by Herbert DeLong and Elmo Durbin of the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture Weights and Measures and county offices. County Men Sentenced For Selling LSD

Two Clermont County men, Gary L. Grossheim age 22 of Milford and A Frost age 21 of Eight Mile Road, were sentenced by Judge Timothy Hogan to six months in a federal penitentiary followed by four and a half years on probation for selling LSD. They were arrested January 19 on Hyde Park Square after selling LSD tablets to Federal Narcotics agents, and both pleaded guilty on May 17.

Prize Winning Law Student Named Co Winner

William Walker of Batavia has been named co winner of the 1971 Paxton and Seasongood Prize for appellate advocacy at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He will attend fall regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition in Detroit. Walker earned a 1970 UC B S degree and is seventh in a class of 148 with a 3.387 cumulative average. He and his wife Gayle and daughter Laura reside on South Street in Batavia and he works summers as manager of Pleasant Hills Swim Club.

Fair Board Election Set for Aug 21 in Clermont County

The annual Clermont County Fair Board election is scheduled for Saturday August 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the treasurer’s office in the Fair Grounds. Three-year terms to be filled from Ohio Wayne Williamsburg Jackson and Miami townships, one-year term from Pierce Township. Incumbents Thiery Wittmer Balke seek re election. Petitions require 10+ Clermont County Agricultural Society members and must be filed seven days before election with secretary at Rt 2 Box 243 Williamsburg.

Sewer and Water Plans Accepted in Union Township

County Commissioners approved extensions to the Miami-Goshen-Stonelick and Pierce-Union-Batavia water systems and upgrades to the Union Township sewer facilities. A $83,000 MGS water line extension on Belfast-Goshen Road leads to Cemetery Lane. PUB project costs total $650,000 and Hall's Run plant improvements add $150,000. The Sayler Run plant will receive corrected connections to prevent surface water intrusion.
