MGS Sewer Project Starts

Ralph Houser led groundbreaking at two sites for Clermont County MGS sewer system. The first at Perintown Sugar Camp Rd site the second at Clermont County Fairgrounds Owensville Stonelick. Officials credited county leaders and Rep. Harsha for securing federal and state funding totaling about 4.1 million dollars.

Chace Named Engineer Aide In Clermont County

Clermont County Commissioners hire Robert Chace former Loveland city manager as deputy county sanitary engineer. He will focus on construction inspection and field work earning 16000 dollars annually. Chace served as Navy flight instructor in World War II and led Mason Engineering Service 1950 to 1966 after administrating Mason 1966 to 1967 and Loveland 1967 to 1970.

Batavia Council Approves Firemen Pay and Sewer Fees

Batavia council approved increases in sewer taps and inspections and raised volunteer firemen pay. Tap-in fees rise from 75 to 300 dollars. fire chief pay goes from 25 to 125 dollars annually. firefighters earn 1.50 dollars per hour on a fire run, doubling the prior rate of half a dollar per hour.

The Clermont County Historical Society picnic is set for Sunday July 25 at the Maynard House near Chile with 2 p.m. start and a 5 p.m. covered dish supper. Clermont College Groundbreaking Set for July 30

Officials from business civic and government sectors gather for the Clermont College groundbreaking on SR 32 Bauman Lane Batavia Ohio. The 65 acre site overlooks the Little Miami River valley and will host a UC branch campus with 3 million in construction funds and 4 million in state funds planned for 1973 75.

Batavia Schools Announce Administrative Changes

Hugh L. Nichols II announced changes at Batavia Schools. Dan Swart is named principal of Batavia Elementary, with duties including supervision of transportation and cafeterias, federal projects, overseeing high school administration, and teaching two periods daily.

Hospital Site Bids Taken For Clermont County Facility

Bids were opened Tuesday for Clermont County Hospital Commission construction of a 72 bed facility with roadways parking grading sewers and water lines. Bids ranged from $115,760 to $144,525 with Schweitzer Construction Co Cincinnati L P Cavett Co Cincinnati and Glenn Rhoades Construction Co Mt. healthy Crab among bidders. The county will accept bids until 9 a.m. August 10. OVRDC adopted a 1971-72 budget totaling $56,400 at a dinner meeting at the Elks Club near Portsmouth with President Carl Mauntel presiding. The group noted EDA grants totaling $792,500 and ongoing Appalachian Land Use and Recreation studies by interns this summer.

Moore Resigns as Superintendent of Clermont County Schools

At a special Clermont County Board of Education meeting Harry R. Moore submitted his resignation as superintendent to take effect February 1, 1972. The resignation will not be effective until that date as plans push for development in the county schools.

Milford election filings top 56 for fall vote

By Monday 56 candidates filed petitions for fall offices. Milford vice mayor Russell P. Diskete joined Victor Kuhn as the second candidate for Council under a January charter, with seven council seats and mayor and vice mayor chosen from the group. Other filers include Paul R. Lewis, Ruth M. Parker, Theodore E. Hastings, and James E. Nelson among several township and city posts.
