New Peak Reached in 4-H Enrollment

Clermont County reports 709 youths enrolled in wartime 4-H Club projects this year led by County Agent Ralph Lemon, up from 560 last year. The slate includes beef, dairy, pig, potato, poultry, rabbit, sheep, victory garden, clothing construction, conservation, and food preservation projects with numerous listed advisors assisting local 4-H efforts.

Clermont youths enjoy week at camp in Glendale

Major Siler of the Cincinnati Salvation Army Judge Orville Halbisch Clermont Probate Court Patrolman W J Ritchie Batavia police chief and Miss Frances Reese of the Child Welfare Board helped 70 Clermont youths spend a week at the Salvation Army camp in Glendale. Children needed only clothing and 16 red ration stamps for the entire week. No monetary charge was made. Transportation to and from camp was provided by volunteers in private cars.

Farm Loan Association Changes Headquarters

At a July 26 special meeting the Loveland National Farm Loan Association approved a change to join with Warren and Clinton counties to form a three county group. Son of Batavia Man Wins Silver Star for Valor

Mr. and Mrs. Homer Remley of Batavia receive the official citation and medal awarded to their son David Remley, Chief Torpedo Man's Mate, U S Navy, by Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Nineteen Clermont Residents Attend Ohio State Last Year

Clermont county sent nineteen men and women to Ohio State during the year ending June 30. Across four quarters, Ohio State enrolled 14 137 students with 12 490 from Ohio. DeNike Jr. of Tabasco Alaska describes two weeks after enlisting in May last year. he works as a projectionist in the Army Air Force special branch delivering movies to posts by plane and dog sled. Two ground crew sergeants from an Army Air Forces unit in Africa will receive Silver Stars on a NBC coast to coast program. Staff Sergeant Burnell Walker of Jackson Mississippi and Sergeant Perry Doty of Shyport Louisiana risked their lives during a low level bombing and strafing attack to save their bomber Fat Emma from fire by tossing burning chemical flares from the aircraft.
