The rationing board warns the tire shortage will worsen for months. Grade I quotas for May to August are 893, 713, 727, 400 with about 1000 Grade I applications monthly. Many may be forced to lay up cars or buy Grade III tires to keep vehicles rolling.
George F. Aicholtz, son of Mr and Mrs Charles Aicholtz, Bata via R F D, has been assigned to the Army Specialized Training program at Syracuse University New York. He is classified in Basic Engineering with instruction in English history physics chemistry mathematics physical training and military science.
Ohio Water Supply Board reports Clermont county under Roy Battles as one of the state’s best programs. Battles monitors 47 wells and, with owner cooperation, measures water table changes from last November to April. Findings show a rise of over two feet. maximum rise 14.75 feet. maximum fall 8.59 feet. averages rise 5.69 feet and fall 3.61 feet. mean difference 2.18 feet.
J A Ashton emergency labor assistant reports continued need for farm help at the County Agent's office in Batavia. He warns shortages will hit fruit picking corn cutting tobacco housing and wheat planting, urging farmers to arrange neighbor exchanges or contact him with timing and duration. Professor Clyde W Park hosted by his brother Rear Admiral Charles A Park in Olive Branch. Charles is Chief of Operations for the U S Coast Guard.
Edward C. Saxton steps down as chairman of the Clermont County Rationing Board to devote time to leading the Clermont County Triple A farm project and the Agricultural War Board. J. W. Evans of Owensville is poised to succeed, with District Director George E. McClellan expected to approve after the board’s recommendation.
Clermont County Legioneers plan to attend the state war time conference in Cincinnati on August 7 8 and 9. The 40 or 8 will hold a ball at the Pavillon Caprice Saturday night and a Legion parade will move through downtown Sunday afternoon. Delegates include Irwin Kain Joseph Cordes and Dale Nichols with alternates Edton Myers Henry Cushard and A M Kistner.
Clermont Rationing Board reports that by July 24 all A book applications were processed except for about 30 received with late mail. A large volunteer force this week helped meet deadlines, with potential issuance by July 21 if more volunteers had joined. The board urges expanding volunteers to support OPA operations and public understanding.
Clermont county taxpayers visit the County Treasurer John P. Friend Jr to pay the last half 1942 real estate taxes after statements mailed Saturday. The first collection day yielded 7804 dollars and by noon Tuesday payments continued. tax windows remain open without penalty until September 10.

Frances Nobis Berry of Amelia Route 1 has been commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve and assigned to active duty. She attended Miami University for three years and later worked as a laboratory technician for Cincinnati Milling Machine Co. In high school she won the American Legion award in 1939 for outstanding senior girl.
Donald Y. Potter son of Mr and Mrs Edwin F Potter of Tabasco Road Long Lane Farm was commissioned a second lieutenant after graduation from the Army Air Force Technical Training Command School at Yale University New Haven Conn He is assigned to duty at Boca Raton Florida after a visit with his parents and relatives in Clermont county
Mrs. Laura Stratton of near Marathon received a letter from her son Homer Glenroy Morgan stating he arrived in England. He says he enjoyed the trip and liked the country there fine.
A revival will start Monday evening August 9 at 8:00 p m in the Newtonsville Methodist Church. Pastor Rev F H Russell is assisted by Rev G L Fox of Bethel Ohio with these meetings inviting all to attend and enjoy.
Wayne A. Schobert of Owensville has graduated from the Army Air Forces Advanced Flying School at Moody Field Georgia and is commissioned a second lieutenant with Army pilot rating Colonel H F Muenter presented the wings. Lt George B Boone of Douglaston L I delivered the valedictory address and praised the trainees journeys from pre flight to advanced training now ready to pilot bombers transports and other large aircraft for the Army Air Forces

Applicants must endorse all coupons with car license numbers and state name, or serial numbers for transportations, and station operators should advise customers and enforce proper usage. Public and operator cooperation is essential.

Forty four in boarding homes, twenty five in free homes, seven with relatives, nine in wage homes, three under case work by other agencies. No July admissions. one dismissal. Three new children accepted.
Mrs. D B Phillips of Forestville will judge 4 H Club girls projects in Clermont County next week. Ralph Lemon says projects will be judged locally to aid members with Mrs Phillips suggestions. Items include war time clothing sewing home furnishings first aid knitting nutrition and canning. Members will submit project record books and final grades will reflect exhibit grade record book and effort.
The Ladies' Aid of the Church of Christ will hold a covered dish luncheon in church rooms of the Fisher building on Thursday August 5 providing a community meal and fellowship.
Washington ordered all Draft Boards to begin reclassifying pre Pearl Harbor fathers aged 18 to 37. Louis Hershey issued directives placing fathers at the bottom of induction if others are available, with key workers and hardship cases deferred.
Clermont County hosts the Clermont Victory Rally at Owensville Fair Grounds on August 19 with a full carnival from Brown Novelty Co of Cincinnati and more than twenty concession booths. Auctioneers donate their services for a large auction to fund the Victory Day program, with many items already listed and more to be added. Landowners may vote on the Clermont Soil Conservation District at the event, sponsored by Clermont farmers.
