Clermont County Lands Top Twenty In Ohio Public Aid Costs
Clermont County spent 582 829 for public assistance in 1954 placing it among the top twenty Ohio counties for relief. State Auditor figures show 67 counties in 1954 and 68 in 1953 spent less. Ausman notes aging and unemployment pushed costs up and that local programs exclude county Home and Soldiers and Sailors relief from the agency tally.

Union Zoning Plan Delayed by Hearing Notice Shortfall
Union Township zoning action faced a legal hurdle when the required hearing notice was published one day short of the 30 day minimum. The zoning commission will restart work to place the issue on a future special election ballot. Debates center on Route 125 Route 74 Mt Carmel Tabasco Road and Nine Mile Road zoning lines with residents opposing light industrial zoning and seeking mixed business residential zoning. The Rev D G Lach engaged Bartholomew and Associates to review the area at a $300 fee. Youth falls from auto in Batavia injuring leg and thigh
Ronnie Raper a 16 year old from Afton was seriously hurt when he fell from the hood of a car on Main Street Batavia after swimming at Twin Bridges south of Williamsport He sustained a crushed leg and thigh and possible internal injuries The car was driven by Russell Ellis He was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Montville by Moore Ambulance.

Harding To Head Scout Finance Campaign in Clermont County

Clermont County business and professional users will see phone numbers change to two letters and five digits on Sunday January 8 1956 at 2 01 am. The shift enables direct distance dialing and ties into a national numbering plan. Ohio Pike area numbers switch in May 1956 when Plymouth office goes into service. Bethel and Midway already adopted 2-5 this past June.
