Lightning kills Milford Angler at Bell's Lake in Clermont County
A bolt of lightning killed Kenneth Miller 45 of Milford while he stood under an oak at Bell's Lake near Mt. Carmel. His wife Virginia and sons Gerald and John were nearby. Miller had worked for Rich and Son painters in Madisonville. Other survivors include son Robert and daughter Mrs Earl Larthford. The tragedy prompted Sheriff and local responders. Miller was former Plainville resident.

Girl 14 Suffers Forehead Cuts in Ohio Car Crash
A 14 year old Winchester girl, Sarah Katherine Patton, suffered severe forehead cuts when the car carrying her mother, Elder Patton, stopped suddenly behind a bus and collided with another vehicle near Williamsburg. Patton treated and released. Brenda Cupp, 13, was unhurt. The party was returning from Cincinnati.

Amelia Village council sets house numbering deadline
The Village of Amelia requires all homes to display three inch high metal or plastic numbers readable from the street by the Sunday deadline in an emergency ordinance. Penalties range from five to twenty five dollars for noncompliance. numbers have been assigned by mail.

Two 4-H Members Attend Conservation Camp
Two outstanding county 4-H members attend the twelfth annual 4-H Conservation Camp at Camp Ohio near Utica Ohio from July 18 to 23. Woman Killed In Route 28 Crash
Mrs. Marie Mattencloit fifty employed at Indian Hill died on arrival after a rear end collision on State Route 28 near Mulberry. Her husband John, fifty five, was trapped in the wreckage along with the car. John A. Montgomery forty two directed traffic around a wheat trailer after the tractor had pulled away. Mattendort apparently failed to notice the signal in time to avoid the accident. State Highway patrolman Frank Gibbons investigated.

Flash Flood Hits Perintown Area
A flash flood from a cloudburst drenched parts of State Route 50 near Milford. Trailer courts and cottages in Perintown Milford were flooded. Water covered Tealtown Road between Perintown and Mt Carmel and the Wolfpen Pleasant Road north of Route 50. About four and a half inches of rain fell in Perintown as the East Fork of the Little Miami River rose six feet.
