Virginian Killed In Tuesday Crash
Thomas Edward Carmines 52 of Messick Virginia died in a 3:05 a.m. Tuesday crash on State Route 52 near Frontier Tavern. He was alone in the car traveling east when it ran off the road and hit a rock embankment. Death caused by head and chest injuries. driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

Ivy Lou Nash aged 79 widow of Batavia druggist Aden Nash died Saturday at her home at Spring and Market Streets. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Moore funeral home with burial in Batavia Cemetery. She is survived by sister Harriett Kernahan. Charles Grimes promotes Amelia airport project with two runways under construction. Grimes is a licensed pilot.

H and S Contracting Company will pave 11.58 miles of SR 133 at $50,664.07 with completion by Sept 30, 1955. Wool Referendum Nears Vote by Mail Before Aug 19
A national sheep and wool referendum asks growers to allow the Secretary of Agriculture to deduct incentive payments to fund the American Sheep Producers' Council. Ballots go out by mail before August 19 from the local ASCS office in Kahle Building. Eligibility requires ownership of sheep or lambs for 30 days since Jan 1 1955, with two thirds of producers voting in favor for approval.
