Funding still sought for Milford and Loveland bridge projects

State leaders and local officials met at the Hamilton County Commissioners' office on July 25 to pursue funding for Milford and Loveland bridges. A 70 percent federal grant was discussed, with Issue One funds potentially usable for Loveland. Clermont County Engineer Walter Carter cautioned about possible delays, and a final funding decision was expected by August 3.

Milford Man Appeals Lower East Fork Sewer Project

Milford resident James F. Wiederhold of 1348 Baldwin Rd. files in Clermont County Common Pleas to halt the Lower East Fork sewer and treatment plant, arguing a historic log house nearby would be endangered and the project would damage his property. Construction had been slated to begin July 28 with land acquisitions totaling $197,089 from Alberg Agro Jr, Land-Del Corp, and Sara Mae Davis.

Sheriff seeks more deputies for better county service

Sheriff John Van Camp urged Clermont County Commissioners to hire additional deputies through CETA. He said workloads from courts and agencies have reduced patrols to a bare minimum, worsening crowds and crime, including a past shooting at a swimming hole in Washington Township.

County official urges higher law enforcement manpower

Van Camp told commissioners that courts and the public demand service but acknowledged limited manpower. He urged revised priorities to provide adequate staffing for outlying areas as nine of Clermont County’s fourteen townships lack police protection. Rotary aims to keep Williamsburg street lights on

The Williamsburg Rotary Club launches a fundraising drive to keep street lights on at night through December 1977. A July 18 Town Council resolution allows illumination if 1250 is raised. annual cost near 2500. About 110 lights were to be shut off August 1 after two levy defeats. Kermit Smith leads the drive with Paul Calebaugh as house-to-house chairman. Robert Croswell and Charles Kirk co-chair business campaign.

Bethel Swim Club seeks annexation by Bethel village

Clermont County commissioners held a public hearing this week on a 2411 acre annexation petition proposed by the Bethel Swim Club. Robert Ringlannd and Edna Bradshaw spoke in favor. no opponents appeared. After a five day comment period, commissioners will act, then the decision goes to Bethel Council.

County bidders sought for winter salt supply

Clermont County Commissioners set August 11 at 10 30 a m for bids to furnish salt for ice control this coming winter. The action seeks contractors to supply road salt for status controlled roads and public safety.
