Clermont police chiefs urge tax to fund new jail

Thirteen of Clermont County’s sixteen police chiefs signed a petition asking commissioners to impose a piggyback sales tax to build and operate a new jail and criminal justice building. They say overcrowding and aging facilities affect operations and that some inmates have been sent to Adams and Hamilton counties. The group invites Commissioners to attend the next chiefs meeting on August 4 at 10 a.m. in Loveland.

Franklin-Felicity School District Levy Vote Set

The Franklin Felicity School District schedules a July 26 vote on a 2.8 mill operating levy to fund teachers and essential costs. Polls open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Voters may register at the polls on election day. For questions call the school board or district offices.

Milford buys fill for Mound Street project from Gilkison Co

Clermont County adopts county wide disaster plan

Clermont County unveils a county wide disaster plan praised by Disaster Services Coordinator Ken Conover as a step toward readiness. The plan, presented at Clermont College Batavia to about 75 officials, covers nuclear natural and manmade disasters with local decision making and defined command posts shelters and storage depots. The plan has been used during a snow emergency in Batavia and a recent tornado warning drill with the National Guard and Red Cross involvement.
