Beckford Annexation Tax Precedence Court Rules

The First Ohio District Court of Appeals held that annexation of property including the CG&E Beckford Power Station to New Richmond takes precedence over Union Township incorporation and Pierce Township. Clermont County set an Aug 30 hearing at 10 am after 14 prior efforts to incorporate or annex the area. Pierce Township seeks to retain tax revenue. residents push for annexation to New Richmond.

Clermont County Adopts 1968 Budget Over 1 Million

County Commissioners approve a 1968 budget of 1 219 115 dollars, about 219 115 more than projected income. They consider higher revenue estimates, levy renewals for retarded children and TB care, bids for a water system, a cattle barn loan for the fair, and road improvements on Clermont Laurelville Road. Farmers Picnic set for August 5 at Sportsmen’s Park with tables chairs provided and a 50 cent car donation.

Girl 12 Killed in Rt 28 Crash Near Goshen

A 12 year old girl Linda Waugh died when a car rear ended a truck on Rt 28 two miles west of the Warren County line. Her father Ova Monhollen 37 of Pleasant Plain was seriously injured and her sister Peggy Waugh 6 was in fair condition. The truck driver Leonard Schramm 62 of Loveland was uninjured. County seeks state grant for airport land transfer of 45 acres and invites bids for salt and a pickup truck.

Clermont County Reads Big Growth Ahead Says CGE Official

CGE vice president Jerry Hurter told Clermont Action Committee that Clermont County will see rapid growth through new airport plans, highways, and industrial projects. He cited a Battelle study predicting 3 percent annual population growth to 1985 and a 170,000 population by 1985. He outlined CGE investments and a push toward atomic generation while noting tax implications and a fight against federally subsidized power competitors.
