County Pilot Earns Distinguished Flying Cross for Heroism
Army Warrant Officer John D. Heath of New Richmond receives the Distinguished Flying Cross for rescue of a wounded soldier in Vietnam on December 8. He piloted a helicopter into a danger zone near Cu Chi to retrieve the casualty. Heath, 26, is with Company B, 25th Aviation Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. He entered the Army in 1960 and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1959. He is married to Rosemary of Cincinnati.

Veteran Township Trustee Won't Run This Fall
Owensville Ohio veteran Jackson Township Trustee John M. Freeman will not seek reelection citing ill health after 20 years in office. Freeman has served as vice chairman and past chairman of the board, now holds executive committeeman duties and represents Clermont County trustees and Clerks Association at the state level. He was a county employee for five years and previously a laborer.

Marion Reynolds was elected president at the Jackson Township Democratic Club meeting on July 26 in Marathon. Troubles For Colonels Hit Batavia Family Again
Police Chief Ed Colonel underwent leg surgery at Jewish Hospital Cincinnati for a circulation issue. His wife Florence was admitted there with a heart attack the same day. Their daughter Becky Jo, 16, was injured on Saturday but avoided hospitalization.

New Richmond River CG&E Completes Hamlet Building
CG&E announces a 310000 Hamlet Service Building project at 3443 State Rt 132 to house gas and electric divisions for the Eastern Division. The 12 acre site includes a 8500 sq ft roofed warehouse, offices, locker rooms, and 60 car employee parking with separate gas and electric spaces. Approximately 60 employees will be based there and electric distribution will move to the Hamlet facility. The one story brick structure features a center warehouse with a 110 by 52 ft footprint and a 20 ft overhang for truck parking.
