Grail Chooses Batavia Student for Portugal Study

Pettie Ann Hodges a 1967 Batavia High School graduate will depart July 29 for four weeks of international study in Portugal as part of a Grail movement program. She is one of six American students plus Lynn Malley from the United States and will attend sessions promoting cultural exchange and service including interaction with children in an orphanage. The group will stay at a vacation camp near Faro, Portugal, with about 400 students from Belgium Spain and France also involved. Hodges and the six Americans meet at Grailville Loveland July 25 for orientation then travel to New York and Lisbon before beginning classes in September majors in Music Education.

Auditor Arnold Stumpf announces the annual truck scale inspection from July 31 to August 4 in Mont County. Kenneth Adcock of the Ohio Division of Weights and Measures will operate two testing units with Elmo Durbin assisting as inspector.

Sailor Escapes as Car Crashes Into Milford Home

Bruce Wedding 19 and his 17 year old brother Steven sleept in a Milford room when a speeding car skidded 200 feet off Ohio 28 and crashed through the Buckwheat Road wall. Bruce suffered minor cuts. Steven uninjured. Driver John H. Link 15 Virginia Beach Va. charged with speeding and driving without a license. Damages to home and car estimated at 2100 and 1100 respectively. Milford Life Squad took Bruce to hospital.
