Safe Removed From Office Of Amelia Realtor
A safe containing valuable papers but no cash was taken from Calvin W. Monjar, a realtor in Amelia, on July 21. The safe was found in the rear of Williamsville school. County's First War Casualty Is Hospitalized In Japan
A letter to Mrs. Fern Hamilton of Olive Branch says Corporal Howard Hamilton convalesces in a Japanese hospital from leg injuries from a mortar shell in Korea on July 14. Clermont County's first war casualty, he enlisted July 6, 1948, served with the 163rd Field Artillery on Kushu Island, reached Korea June 26, and his unit had been driven back 125 miles when wounded. 87 battery members escaped death or injury. He has the Purple Heart.

County Scouts Spend One Week At Mianiville
Seventy Clermont County Boy Scouts led by Arthur Landon John Friend III and Carlton Hyde camped at Mianiville with units from Bethel Pelicity Batavia Milford New Richmond Williamsville Amelia and Georgetown. A new swimming pool and dining hall improved the camp atmosphere while staff aided advancement. Tuesday hosted a campfire program for district leaders and on Friday the Scouts presented Indian dances.
