Ruth Burkhardt rose from student to supervisor and teacher at Arthur Murray studios in Cincinnati, teaching eight hours daily for 56 days to master the profession. She inspired self-confidence and relaxation in hundreds, while romance blossomed with Tom Burkhardt of Mt. Carmel, whom she later married. Ruth and sister Jean Carstens also taught dance at the studio. Their parents were Pete Wiener of near Mt. Carmel and his wife. Glenrose Builders counts Wiener and Burkhardt as partners.

A head on collision on Dry Run Road near Stonelick Lake at 7 p m Tuesday killed Rev James E Gholston 60 of Dry Run Road and injured four youths. Billy Fisher 17 and passengers Robert Wittenberger 16 James Pray 16 were taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. The wreck destroyed both cars.

The Hamilton County Grand Jury indicted Otis R. Sharp of Route 1 New Richmond and an unknown man for armed robbery of taxicab driver Harry Schrand on April 14 at 2322 Quebec Road. Ralph Irwin of Route 2 Loveland faced an additional burglary charge. Fred Jones Harry Pierce both of Route 2 Loveland and Minard Pierce of Williamsbrug pleaded not guilty to defrauding the Government by collecting money for crops they did not raise under the 1947 1948 marketing quotas.

Slaying Suspect Released By Police
James P. McCormack a 32 year old bartender and New Richmond resident was released by Cincinnati police as a suspect in the slaying of an East End delicatessen owner. A lie detector indicated innocence and he was arrested while working in a cafe at California Friday with the holdup cash totaling 40 dollars.

Marine Sergeant Receives Six Citations for Aerial Service
Marine Sergeant Joseph J. Retzler of Clough Road earned six citations from the commandant. He served as radio gunner with Marine Scout Bomber Squadron 341 in operations against Japan, flying from June 1943 to November 1945 and participating in 60 missions. Clermont County's First War Casualty Is Announced
Howard Hamilton, 19, son of Mrs. Fern Hamilton of Olive Branch, is named Clermont County's first Korean War casualty. He enlisted July 6, 1948, served with the 163rd Field Artillery on Kushu Island near Japan, and was later transferred to South Korea.

Batavia Girl Sustains Burn Injuries In Stove Explosion
In Batavia on Sixth Street a gasoline stove exploded in the home of Clarence Ogle. His daughter Mary Lou 12 suffered possible second degree burns to both hands while filling the fuel tank. Damage was estimated at 100 dollars and the Batavia fire department extinguished the blaze.

At a special Batavia school board meeting on Wednesday night, Dr. F. S. Skeen resigned as board president. Roy Battles was named president and Ralph Majewsky named clerk and board member.
