Batavian leader dies after Dayton operation
Alexander Ferguson a respected Batavia citizen and janitor of the M. E. church and school building died after an operation in Dayton Kentucky for a neck cancer encasing his jugular vein. He left July 18 with his wife and died Saturday night after two hours thirty minutes on the table. Funeral Tuesday at the M. E. church with Rev Elm White presiding elder and Rev Martin assisting. Burial in Union cemetery.

Dairy bull worth nearly three thousand in a year
Prof. C. C. Hayden reports in the July Ohio Experiment Station bulletin that one dairy bull in the Station herd raised daughters averaging 158 pounds more butterfat annually than their dam. If 10 daughters yield milk for six years, the sire could be worth about 2 750 dollars more than a bull with no uplift, assuming butterfat at 80 cents per pound. Farmers should wait for daughter testing before selling the sire. old bulls with high producing daughters may still have value.
