Ralph Soup Monjar once of Batavia who was paroled from Ohio Penitentiary may face return to prison for parole violations. He previously served 1 to 3 years for nonsupport of five children. He fled with a Nixon trailer and car from Livingston Alabama toward Cincinnati, prompting police pursuit. Nixon’s car was recovered. the trailer remains missing. Monjar may face additional nonsupport charges in Batavia as parole officials decide. His mother died recently and his five children remain with Clermont County Welfare Board. Scientists at Ohio Experiment Station say artificial insemination does not alter calf sex ratios in small herds.

Five Calves From One Cow At Maple
J. W. Smith of Maple reports a single cow has given birth to five calves in 22 months. The short horn cow, weighing 1000 to 1200 pounds, produced two male calves in 1894, two female calves in 1895, and one calf in 1896. The herd for viewing is at Smith's farm near Maple. the cow is said to yield about a pound and a half of butter daily when cream is churned.

Legion of Merit Awarded to Donald Ault in 1946
Lieutenant Donald H. Ault USNR received the Legion of Merit on July 8 1946 for outstanding service aboard the minelayer USS Wee MaWka. Crippled Children See Free Movie in Batavia
A group of 90 crippled children from Camp Allyn near Olive Branch were taken to a free show in Batavia. The outing was funded by Allen Boles of Amelia Dairy and Verron Monjar of Town Hall Theatre. Children came from Cincinnati Ironton Columbus Hamilton and other Ohio cities and were sponsored by the Cincinnati Rotary Club with Nurse Edith Hennessey in charge. Camp director Bill Gilliland led the group back home after the visit.

Alaska Highway Needs Garages and Hotels
Richard L. Neuberger, former Army officer who helped build the 1500 mile Alaska Highway, says the road requires garages, hotels, and service stations before serving the general public.
