Dr Allan Rapp Accepted Clermont County Coroner Nomination

Dr Allan Rapp of Owensville has been named by the Republican Central Committee for the Clermont County coroner post and will appear on the Republican ballot in the fall election. He currently fills part of the late Sam White’s unexpired term. A recent Attorney General decision requires the office be filled at the first regular election.

Damages Sought in Clermont County Suit Over False Accusations

Mrs Fay Wulfeck and son Peter of Madisonville sue Mrs Emma Rapp and Allen Rapp of Owensville in Clermont County Court for 8500 dollars claiming injury to character from false accusations. The dispute stems from a road across the Wulfeck property closed by Mrs Wulfeck after years of use. Peter was recently acquitted on a firearms charge connected to the matter.

Better Rural Health Drive Spreads Across 42 Ohio Counties

Farm Bureau women in 42 Ohio counties form a multi level committee system to promote rural health. Led by J. E. Garretson the education department in Columbus the organizers plan projects through county district and state channels. They study county public health and welfare operations to start programs.

Preparations For Clermont County Fair And Camp Week

Clermont County 4 H Camp at Lake Allyn near Olive Branch opened July 31 for a three day session run by Rotary for crippled children. About 100 campers and 16 adult advisors from Clermont County attend as Rotary hosts prepare for the 97th Clermont County Fair at Owensville on August 13 with a bigger carnival, horse show, and increased purses in seven races. Local youth groups will join a Junior Fair program as entertainment from Renfro Valley Folks and Ohio State University livestock judging.

Veterinarian Injured in Route 222 Crash Near Amelia

Dr. J. C. Fitzpatrick of Amelia was seriously injured in a head on collision with a Ford truck on Route 222 near Route 125 Monday morning. He sustained a broken arm and four broken ribs and was treated by doctors in Amelia before being taken to Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Kerr Family Relocates to Clermont County

Robert Kerr and his family, formerly of Cincinnati, moved into a remodeled home on State Route 74 near Batavia. They purchased the property from William Parsons. Mr Kerr runs several businesses including Kerr Dairy Bar in Batavia and Kerr Ice Cream and Neff Dairy in Cincinnati. Mrs Kerr is a former Batavia resident.

Sheep Dog Trials Highlight Ohio State Fair Lineup

The Ohio State Fair in Columbus runs August 24 to 30 featuring the North American Sheep Dog Society indoor championship trials. Preliminary rounds begin August 28 at the Coliseum with three evenings of competition and a final Thursday show for the America's champion sweep dog title.

Joint TB Committee Formed in Clermont County

A county meeting led by Hugh C. Sauer of the Ohio Tuberculosis and Health Association formed The Clermont County Joint Committee on Tuberculosis Control. The group, with 22 representatives from Grange to Rotary, urged state legislation for subsidies, a central TB hospital in Columbus, four regional TB hospitals, and a $50,000 annual state appropriation. Earle B. Kincaid named president with John P. Friend and G. C. Ankermiller as officers.

The City Loan Company based in Lima Ohio plans to open a local loan office in Batavia. Office space is leased in the Tom Pancher building on Main Street under a six year agreement. originally a jewelry store was to occupy the room but material shortages caused a change.

Batavia Ohio Village Urges Clearing Of Vacant Lots

Batavia Village Ordinance Section 3648 requires property owners or controllers to keep vacant lots free of weeds and rank vegetation. Owners must cut vegetation at least twice yearly between June 1 and September 1. If not done, the village may have it cleared and charge the costs as taxes.
