Two residents of Clermont receive General Motors Community Activity Awards for notable local service. The honors recognize efforts by community volunteers contributing to youth programs and civic initiatives within the region.
Carl's Barbers, a Knothole Class B team, claimed two summer titles in 1971. Photo shows District 33 champions with players and coaches named. team posted 25 wins and one league loss with 14 shutouts and nine no hitters by Delbert VanMatre and Ricky Royse. They won the Firecracker Class B Tournament in Ripley July 2–4, beating Crab and Willowville Stackers and advance to Clermont finals.
State Auditor Joseph T. Ferguson reports July gasoline tax revenue totaling 8.63 million distributed to Ohio’s eight counties 229 cities 707 villages and 1 320 townships. Cities and villages receive 4.40 million, counties 2.64 million 30 000 each township shares 1 200 each totaling 1.584 million with distributions mailed to county auditors.
Three Clermont Countians attend the Southwest Region Farm Bureau Youth School held July 18 to 23 on the Otterbein College campus in Wester. Delegates join youth from area counties for classroom sessions and cooperative farming discussions.
