Trustees Give Flags To Batavia CG&E Building

Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association presented George Day of Cincinnati Gas and Electric with two flags a Ohio banner from Columbus and a U S flag that flew at Washington D C. Rep William H Harsha helped obtain the American flag and the group toured the Beckford generating plant after a family night meeting. A Aug 12 picnic at Sportsmen's Park near Batavia is planned.

Clermont County sets 196 budget at 1 074 847 with all departments kept at prior levels. Commissioners also review proposed Union Township Sewer rates, detailing residential and commercial charges based on water usage and meter size, plus potential surcharges for water quality limits.

Wehrum Named To FHA Committee In Clermont County

Ralph L. Wehrum, Felicity area farmer, has been appointed to the Clermont County FHA Committee for three years beginning July 1. The three member panel reviews FHA loan applications and rotates new members each year, succeeding Roland Corbin. Other members are Russell Wolfer and Irvin Tarvin. The local FHA office serves Brown, Clermont, and Hamilton Counties from Georgetown.

Treasurer Reports Higher 1965 Fund Earnings

Treasurer Byron Ross says the 1965 earnings on U S Treasury bills and notes exceed last year. Earned interest is 50 692 with 742 567 notes maturing in July and August. General funds earned 40 000 last year and 22 000 to date. Other money includes Miami Goshen Stonelick Water System and Union Township Sewer funds.

Amelia Firm Submits Low Bid on MGS Project

Bachelior Construction Co of Amelia bids $12,604 Friday for additions to two booster pump stations in the Miami Goshen Stonelick Water System. Engineer's estimate was $12,700. Other bidders ranged from $15,270 to $22,693. County commissioners will review before award.

Milford Attorney Joins Clermont UA Team in 1965 Campaign

Seven area leaders named as vice chairmen for eastern Hamilton and Clermont County divisions in the 1965 United Appeal. Ronald C. Carey of Milford, an attorney for Cincinnati Milling Machine Co, heads administration and special gifts in Clermont, with other appointees guiding Eastern and Newtown divisions. The drive funds 128 health social welfare and character programs plus 16 Red Cross services, running Sept 8 to Oct 28. Carey, his wife Regina and children Randy Rhonda and Robyn are noted local details.

Clermont County Board Hires Two New Supervisors

The Clermont County Board of Education named Evan D. Belville Bremen and Donald L. Dowdy Jackson as new supervisors. Belville focuses on special education guidance health and attendance while Dowdy handles distributive and commercial education work study and adult education under the federal anti poverty program. Roy K. Wehr was named intern psychologist and Mrs John Johnson Williamsville replaces Mrs Jenny Lipps as secretary. CAC States Meeting At CG8E July 29

Clermont County Community Action Committee will meet Thursday July 29 at 7 30 p m in the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Auditorium Batavia. Ohio Employment Services Program for Clermont County will be presented by Lewis Evans OSS director for Hamilton and Clermont Counties. Evans will be joined by Robert Waters and Gordon Gillett to discuss new services offered by OSS while continuing regular employment services. Reports will also come from the Industrial Development Committee chaired by Kermit Smith the Volunteer Service Bureau chaired by Mrs Clarence Zugelter and the Small Business Development Center chaired by Robert L Crowe.

The Pierce Township Board of Trustees will share half the cost of improving three county roads In Pierce Township. They will pay up to 15000 for Pond Run Rd and up to 7500 to correct slides on Nine Mile Rd and Nordyke Rd. The County Commissioners opened bids for a new half ton pickup for the Union Township Sewer System project led by Johnny Parsons Ford Milford at 2678.

Train Youth As Sheriff's Cadets in Clermont County

County Commissioner Arthur Blake pilots a plan to train librarians and sheriff cadets under the anti poverty program. The outline proposes five new branch libraries with trainees, plus 10 at the main library, creating 45 jobs. Senior deputies would supervise 20 to 50 youths ages 18 to 20 as sheriff cadets to pursue police careers.

Disabled American Veterans to hold 44th Ohio Convention in Toledo

The 44th Ohio Convention of the Disabled American Veterans is set for July 23 and 24 in Toledo. Commander Close Hutson announced a record 28th straight year of rising membership and noted sessions by state and national officials, a Chapter Service Officers School, a banquet featuring humorist Allen Saunders, and a parade before Sunday elections. The Women's Auxiliary will meet concurrently. the national convention is scheduled for New Orleans August 1-6.

Poverty War Office Space Needs Listed

Clermont County Community Action Director Jack Blumenthal says poverty war proposals total 1.5 million dollars with 5000 square feet as the county 10 percent share. Space needs include 1500 square feet for Neighborhood Youth Corps offices 2000 for Community Service Center offices and consultation rooms and 1500 for a health clinic with 750 square feet for a dental clinic already promised. He says the Youth Corps project will bring more than 700 thousand dollars to the county and approval may take one to several months.

Amelia Grants Gas Franchise To CG&E

Amelia Village Council grants CG&E a natural gas franchise. An ordinance sets rates equal to Batavia, Williamsburg, and Bethel. Gas service expected by the fall heating season. Extension from Olive Branch to Amelia Olive Branch Road costs 150000, part of a 900000 expansion with Batavia Williamsburg Bethel.
