Frank Mc Ginnis of Mt. Carmel shoes riding and show horses with a mobile unit. He travels to riding stables and farms across Ohio Indiana Kentucky and Illinois to work on horses like the Miljole Farm's Townsman saddle horse.
The village will honor Dr. J. P. Allen at the 7th annual Homecoming for more than 56 years of medical service to Williamsburg. He graduated in 1894 from Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery and practiced in Cincinnati before moving here. He served on the Board of Public Affairs and helped run the city light plant, was active in Masonry, and led the band. Dr. Allen and his wife celebrated their golden wedding seven years ago and have two sons, Elburn G. and Kenneth W., in Memphis. In 1949 he received a gold medal from the Clermont County Medical Society for 50 plus years of practice in Ohio.
A five room residence between Bethel and Hamersville was destroyed by fire Friday after a freezer motor ignited leaking bottled gas. Loss estimated at 3500. Lula Belle Eversole, who had moved three hours before, failed to shut off the gas. Hamersville and Bethel firemen kept flames from neighboring houses. Wheat Saved in Felicity Fire. Local department saved 6 of 10 acres on Worth McBeth farm from tractor exhaust fire on Chile McKindree Chapel Road. McBeth homes and outbuildings were protected.
Printed programs with blue covers delivered to the Fair Board detail the Owensville grounds event from August 18 to 21. Harness racing and free acts start at 2 15 p m, polo introductions at 8 p m, Rotroff Attractions close the first night. Thursday features livestock and agricultural judging with racing and acts planned.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Company’s plan to split Batavia exchange in Clermont County into Amelia and Tabasco exchanges affecting about 25 square miles in the southwest.
LOGUST CORNER reports Schney Distributing Company entered and looted twice over the weekend with two storage batteries $10 cash and 20 cases of beer taken. Hoberg Distributing on Route 74 also robbed with a small amount of money and several beer cases stolen per Batavia police.
AMELIA Ohio Les Jones residing on Ferris Road between here and Williamsville has opened a general auto repair shop in a building adjoining Cookie's Comet Service on State Route 125. Jones formerly worked for Fuller Ford and Adams Oldsmobile in Cincinnati and has lived in Clermont County for 20 years.
Ralph J. Bertsche owner of the Chevrolet agency in New Richmond purchases the Schwarz Chevrolet and Oldsmobile agency at Lebanon after serving as a World War II fighter pilot. He is married with four children.
Milford officials oppose using intangible tax funds to run the Clermont County library. The board will appeal if the Budget Commission again blocks the library funding. The village approved a budget of 136072.50 for July to July 1965, about 2400 higher than last year.
The Sunday centennial ceremony of the chapel featured Betty Lou and her father George Bettle, representing the fifth generation and serving as centennial vice president. Pictured with them are Jo Anne, George Sr., Robert and James Bettle. Clermont County Grand Jury to convene August 24 for two days to clear the docket before September regular session due to rising case loads.
Deputy Sam Skinner aged 54 was reported in poor condition at Christ Hospital Cincinnati after a Monday heart attack. He collapsed while traveling with Clermont County Service Officer Jim Griffith toward Williamsburg and was taken to Batavia then to the hospital by ambulance.
Fred H. Painter of Route 2 New Richmond was hospitalized in Cincinnati after suffering burns and shock while working at CG and E Walter C Beckford power plant near here.
A group of farmers and business men affiliated with the Clermont County Efficiency in Farming project will meet at the Williamsburg community building at 8:00 p m on Wednesday July 26. They will discuss plans for evaluating the farms enrolled in the project.
Water consumption at Beth El has dropped by 20 000 to 30 000 gallons daily after village officials asked residents to cut usage. The town, still recovering from a severe summer shortage, dredges Cloverlick Creek to protect its water source. Charley Grover of the waterworks department meters the dwindling supply and notes the dam has risen 18 inches, with enough water to last two to three months if savings continue.
A total of 891 elderly Clermont Countians received financial help from the Division of Aid for the Aged during June. Payments to individuals averaged $53.36 while the total disbursement to all 891 oldsters was $47,548. Twenty nine persons received a total of $1,426.11 for health care. Payments to 869, subject to federal participation, amounted to $46,245. The average payment for this was $53.22. Only 22 were recipient of funds not subject to federal participation.
An 11 year old boy in Milford faces removal to a juvenile reformatory in Washington D C after admitting to stealing a car and fleeing authorities. Federal agents are expected to take him into custody upon arrival.
