Line Snaps Cuts Power In County
A 33 000 volt CGE E E power line broke in two at noon on Route 132 one mile north of State Route 132 Hamlet causing a grass fire and a large power outage in Clermont County and nearby areas. James Baker of Amelia witnessed the line snap and felt vibrations as he delivered to a private residence. Repair crews worked to determine the break’s cause and re routed service via the area’s good network of distribution lines.

No Developments In Safe Theft Milford Ohio
Milford Police report no new developments in the theft of a 300 pound safe from the Glareda Nation Shoppe at 220 Main Street. The safe contained thirteen silver dollars old coins and personal papers belonging to Mrs Edna Andrews. Police believe entry was gained with a pass key.

Shaw 76 a retired Congressional secretary died at his home in the Netherlands apartments Washington Services were held in the capital and burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery Shaw a Batavia native came to Washington in 1900 and later served Elliott Spraul from 1921 to 1931 He was a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge and is survived by his widow Ida M. Shaw

Charles Bud Holland 26 of Moscow died from a lung hemorrhage and enlarged heart after being found near the Frontier tavern on State Route 52. He was discovered by Bud Spicer at about 8 am while reportedly preparing to pump water from the tavern basement. Survived by wife Carol and parents Mr. and Mrs. William Holland of Moscow.

Bridge Repairs Begin Monday In Loveland Ohio
Repairs estimated at 80000 dollars started Monday on the Little Miami River bridge in Loveland Ohio. A temporary crossing will run from Taylor Street to Harper Avenue while the main work proceeds. Amelia Considers Local Option for Beer Wine and Liquor
The Clermont County Board of Elections received local option petitions from Jack Ehrensberger to place a November vote on allowing liquor by the glass on premises beer and wine for on and off premises consumption and a state liquor store in Amelia. About 60 signatures are needed from Amelia voters. A majority on all five questions would permit all types of intoxicating beverage sales in the village.

Youth to Face Juvenile Court Over Tavern Drinking
A 16 year old from Route 1 Chile faces a Friday appearance before Juvenile Judge Orville Halbisch on charges of buying and drinking alcohol at Cleves Place in Chile. Bar proprietor Cleves Bennett and bartender Harry Wisby are accused of selling him beer and may be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Deputies were alerted Saturday night and found Bennett, Wisby, and five patrons drinking after hours. no arrests were made. The tavern was formerly Red's Tavern.

Theodore Cutter, 49, a Milford Hotel resident, suffered a compound fracture of the left leg when struck by a auto on Main Street near the Brass Rail. The vehicle was driven by Harry E. Heckler, 35, of Route 1 Cozaddale. No charges were filed.

College Designs Course To Help Smaller Papers
Defiance College in Ohio offers a one year program for Clermont County high school graduates to train for community newspaper work. The course uses linotype machines and presses as lab equipment and covers news gathering writing type writing accounting and English. An elective such as shorthand or advertising is available and some publishers help fund tuition in exchange for a year of work at a home paper. The program may credit toward a degree if the student continues in college.
