Planning Chairman Dies After Tractor Accident

Ralph S. Windle 44, planning commission chairman and Cincinnati Gas & Electric senior sales rep, was killed when his tractor dragged him after he fell trying to board. His nine-year-old son Ralph Jr. was riding with him. both watched a rabbit chased by dogs before the incident on the Moscow area farm. Windle, a Korean War veteran, was active in local fraternal groups and is survived by his wife Roberta, his father Cicero, a sister Wilma Tobin, and brothers George R and others. Funeral services were held at Mt Zion St Paul United Church of Christ Mt. Zion after services in Mt. Washington.

Felicity Hears Expansion of Phone Service Debate

Public hearing before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio drew about 70 residents in Felicity as they urged extended telephone service to Bethel and New Richmond. General Telephone and Cincinnati Bell opposed the expansion citing high costs of 86 601 and 128 156 plus ongoing 30000 annually. The PUCO will study the matter before a decision, no timeline given.

Eighteen more candidates filed nominating petitions for county township and village offices to appear on the November ballot bringing total filings to 39. Names include Paul E. Three Batavians Die in S. R. 132 Crash Near Amelia

A July 11 one car crash on S R 132 near Amelia killed Donna Evans 16 Tommy Pierson 19 and Kenneth Gardner 26 all Batavia residents. Passenger Jeannie Wilson 16 of Ironton survived in serious condition at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Pierson worked at Deer Park Auto Parts. Services for Pierson and Gardner were held in Batavia with burial in Batavia Cemetery. Survival details and family lists follow for Pierson and Gardner.
