Farmers urged to buy 1946 Federal Crop Insurance

County AAA chairman Edward C. Saxton explains wheat farmers in Clermont County can insure the 1946 crop against weather and other hazards for 50 or 75 percent of average yield. Contracts cover 1946-48, with rates per acre and payment options. Applications due by September 15, 1945, with at least 50 farms required for program availability.

Bethel imposes 60 day dog quarantine after rabies scare

Clermont Sportsmen plan an all day picnic on Sunday July 22 with contests and music for members and families. Bethel orders strict dog control after a stray dog bit children on North Street and tests in Columbus showed rabies positive. Mayor Canter enforces the ordinance with heavy penalties during the 60 day quarantine.

Clermont County Men Begin Naval Training at Great Lakes

Five Clermont County men start recruit training at the U S Naval Training Center Great Lakes Illinois with instruction in seamanship drill and Naval procedure. Aptitude tests will decide their future assignments to a Naval Service School shore station or immediate sea duty. They will receive leave after training. New War Veterans Discharge Recording Law Issued

Edward J. Hummel announces House Bill 375 making discharge records free to veterans at county recorders upon discharge. Recorders must file the discharge, issue one free certified copy or photo static copy, and accept the certified copy in evidence where the original discharge would be.

Ohio Senator Harold H. Burton of Cleveland leads speculation in Washington as a potential associate justice to replace Justice Owen J. Roberts. Soldiers Return From Atlantic Tour In Navy Planes Unit

Raymond Herget of Batavia Ohio a Seaman Second Class in USNR has returned from a Atlantic tour with Navy search plane squadron 107 attached to Patrol Bombing Squadron 107. He helped keep four motored Liberators in flying trim as the squadron conducted long unescorted searches to keep sea lanes clear for troop and supply movements. Joseph M Fogleman a shipfitter second class also of Batavia Ohio serves aboard an LST stopping en route to the States after carrying troops and vehicles on a 625 mile trip to Norway. His wife Mrs Ethel Fogleman lives in Batavia. The Oslo to Havre run was the LSTs longest yet but involved no major incidents despite mines in North Sea and Oslofjord waters.

Filing date nears for village township elections

Died at his son’s residence in the county on the lith inst Lieut Thomas Mulloy long a resident and among the first to enlist under Gen Putnam in 1775 at Cambridge Mass He endured six years of hard service including Saratoga Monmouth and other battles He died peacefully with hands folded on his breast.
