Fortney dies at 14 after illness during study in Dallas
Mark Dion Fortney, 14, died Tuesday July 6 after illness while on a work study program at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas. He lived in Amelia and was a draftsman for McGill & Smith Engineers. Survived by parents Dorothy Kelly Fortney and Thomas R. Fortney and siblings Greg, Paula, and Marta. Services were held at E. C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia.

Services held for Bethel man in one car crash
William H. Baker, 35, of 215 North Main Street Bethel, died in a one car crash on July 3 when his vehicle left SR 222 south of Batavia, struck a mailbox, and overturned. Troopers said he was thrown from the car and died instantly.
