Williamsburg weighs cable bids from two firms
Williamsburg Village Council has been approached by Taylor Cablevision and SoComm Corporation seeking a contract to provide cable television. Taylor proposes a 12 channel system for 9 dollars per customer plus weather and public information channels with a free lock out for adult movies. SoComm seeks 22 channels with eight dollar and thirteen cent for twelve channels and four dollars and twenty cent for seven more, with no installation charge and a local office to be established if awarded. A council committee was formed to study options.

Cemetery price hike in Pierce Township approved
Pierce Township trustees vote unanimously on July 6 to raise cemetery plot fees. A single plot for residents goes to 100 dollars from 55, while non residents pay 200 dollars from 105, citing higher machinery labor and maintenance costs. The board says rates remain cheaper than nearby cemeteries and also moves to petition the county to vacate North Alley Road.

Weston trial date set for four counts of aggravated murder
Richard L. Weston pleaded not guilty in Clermont County Common Pleas Court to four murder charges connected to the deaths of William Billy Stevenson and family. Judge John L. Watson set a Sept. 13 trial date and no bond. Public Defender R. Daniel Hannon, appointed after a pauper affidavit, seeks a later date for trial. Weston, 43, formerly of Batesville Indiana, has prior federal conviction for possessing and transporting items from the Stevenson home, including a $13,000 diamond ring. He remains in Clermont's detention facility. Sheriff’s Inspector Clarence Pennington escorted him into court.

Boner Gets Maximum Sentences in Milford Robbery Case
Douglas E. Boner pleaded guilty in Clermont County Court on Wednesday July 7 to aggravated robbery and felonious assault stemming from a Milford Shopping Center incident on January 15. Kidnapping charges were dropped. The judge imposed seven to 25 years for aggravated robbery and five to 15 years for felonious assault, to run consecutively within a 15 to 75 year term already imposed May 20 in Hamilton County for kidnapping two Cincinnati area women.
