Identity of Woman Revealed in Ohio River Case
Maud Tumney, 80, identified by Utopia residents as the woman found in the Ohio river three weeks ago. Sheriff Fred Croswell showed her photograph in Utopia on Tuesday. Citizens seek the man they believe accompanied her, Jack Linville of Kentucky, a former associate now pursued by the sheriff. She left four children. Linville is a widower with four.

Special grand jury returns four bills in session
A special grand jury convened Friday morning and was in session about ninety minutes. It returned four bills including two for larceny. Ray Green and Chas Young pleaded guilty and were remanded in jail on $1000 bail each with trial set next Friday. Wm Sebree also pled guilty and will be disposed of later as prosecuting witness in a tires and tubes theft case against D N Parks near Batavia on June 29.

Auditor to Handle Licenses After July 21
The auditor in each county will issue automobile and other licenses at half last year's fee due to the gas tax. Licenses require tax listing of the vehicle and a triplicate application with owner details and motor numbers. Funds are distributed monthly to the State and to counties and municipalities for street and road repair.
Baptist Rally Draws Large Crowd in Loveland
The colored Baptist rally at Loveland last Sunday drew a large audience with Rev. Little, Rev. Scott, and Rev. Woods delivering addresses. An excellent program followed by a fine basket dinner pleased attendees. About two members from Batavia attended. Batavia plans a rally on July 26.

Night Watchman on Duty at Bata Bank Construction
The First National Bank of Bata via, under construction and nearing completion, is guarded at night by a watchman who heard an auto enter town last Saturday morning and stop near the public building where an attempted robbery occurred. The Clermont Auto Sales Co. is mentioned along with a merchants' night police idea to curb thefts. The bank is expected to move to its new quarters by September 1.

Attempted Robbery of Clermont County Treasury in Batavia
A Friday night attempt to crack the Clermont County Treasurer's vault in Batavia failed as the burglars fled after drilling a hole in the side of the combination. The entry path ran through the private room of the county commissioners and auditor into the vault. Janitor Fred Jones found the scene at 5 am, and Sheriff Fred Croswell led the investigation with Deputy Carl Dawson. No arrests or clues yet, with past similar robberies dating back 40 years to Alfred Robinson's term.
