Green and Young Tried for Auto Tire Larceny
Ray Green and Chas Young were tried in Common Pleas Court before Judge White after being indicted for larceny in connection with stolen auto tires from D N Parks near Batavia. State witness Sebree testified Green aided the theft and that a $20 payment passed for the tires, with Green and Young convicted of larceny and the property valued at $60.

Thomas Dunlap former Batavia resident dies at St Bernard
Thomas Dunlap eldest son of Frank Dunlap deceased died at his St Bernard home on Wednesday. Burial is in Union cemetery after services at the M. B. church in Batavia. He was born above Batavia and well known locally. A widow and several grown children survive. Burial to be in Union cemetery.

Williamsburg Bay The Promotor reports Cleveland's Thistledown Park opens with a $700,000 plant for a three week meet. It features a 6,300 grandstand and 8,500 clubhouse capacity, modern design, and optional horse claiming by the public. Seven daily races offer purses from 1000 to 5000 dollars. John H. McMillen, a former Williamsburg boy and Cleveland stable owner, built the track in memory of his star four year old thoroughbred killed at Pimlico.

Tragic drowning of Anna Lahman at Palestine
The 7 year old Anna Lahman of New Richmond drowned mid river when she jumped from a motor boat during a camping trip seven miles below Palestine. Rescue attempts used dynamite to raise the body but failed. The family mourns and authorities continue search efforts. The note also reports the later discovery and identification of Anna Ross’s body in Newport Kentucky on Sunday.

Lightning Strikes Home on Deerfield Road
During last week's storm the home of Leonard Anstead on Deerfield Road was struck by lightning. The current jumped to a nearby clothes line and disappeared. Mr Anstead and a son were on the porch. the son was slightly shocked. This marks a second such incident at this house.

The outlook for a good tobacco crop is discouraging as plants were large and wooded and the season was poor. Rain in August and a late fall could help, but the section overall remains unpromising.
