In Batavia the Adolescent Unit occupies the former CECA House at 204 North St. since March 8 1982, combining juvenile court and children's services staffs to treat troubled families. Since opening it has had 265 referrals and 165 families treated, with 200+ children aided this year.

Klansman Unveils Era Shift In Public Image

Batavia ABC agent and Knights of the KKK Ohio grand dragon Van D. Loman announced a new Klan image at a Columbus press event. He described declassification of the oath and by laws and a ban on robes, plus a three point program on El Salvador. The plan urges U S defense, immigration controls, and re adoption of Communist Party registration. Police presence and hotel protest were limited to removal of a podium emblem to avoid photos.

Clermont Budget Slashes 1984 Plans Despite Tax Increase Hopes

Clermont officials cut nearly 3 million from general fund requests to balance with projected 1984 income of over 9.4 million from property taxes licenses fines and aid. Total funds will be about 700 thousand lower than this year due to a smaller carryover, with public hearings on a half percent sales tax set for July 18 and 22. Federal revenue sharing for 1984 is expected to be about 160 thousand less than appropriated and 250 thousand less than requested, leaving room for possible restorations in some cuts.

Village library finds a place to call home

Ashburn and New Richmond residents will see the village library move from the high school into a dedicated Market Street building this fall pending county approval. Librarian Aileen Witte says the new 2000 square foot space will provide an open reading area and room for about 5000 to 6000 books, improving access and visibility for residents of all ages.
