Firemen To Meet To Form Auxiliary In North Union
The North Union Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold a meeting at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Kettler's Restaurant Summerside to organize a ladies auxiliary and support the current volunteer staff. William Cheesman of Columbus and Elmer Weis of the State Department of Education will attend with demonstrations and explanations. The Batavia department may send equipment for display.

Tree Falls Injures Man on Batavia Farm
Robert C. McNabb, 39, of Price Hill, was seriously injured when a tree fell on his left leg during a hillside cutting at Allen Roudebush’s farm near Batavia. He was treated at Christ Hospital by the Moore ambulance and released Tuesday.

Two Reappointed As Supervisors For County Home
Clyde and Alma Boner were reappointed managers of the Clermont County Home by the board of commissioners. Boner serves as superintendent and Mrs. Boner as matron. they have run the Home for seven and a half years and moved from Cincinnati. New terms run July 1, 1955 to June 30, 1956. Charles Carpenter of Williamsburg became maintenance man under the new county office, earning 240 dollars, reporting to Arthur Mienken of Newtonsville, an auditor’s office staff member.

Rash of Accidents Leaves One Dead and Twelve Injured
A string of traffic crashes on State Routes 74 132 and 52 resulted in a fatality and multiple injuries. Mrs Mabel A Hill 62 of Batavia died in a two car crash near Goshen. Several others including Mrs Norval Humphrey and family members were treated for injuries at local hospitals.
River Drowning Mystery Near Clermont County Park
Clermont County sheriff reports no trace of a girl reportedly drowned in the Ohio River on Friday. A Cincinnati couple says they saw a 16 year old girl in shorts and a blouse enter the river, swim about 200 feet, then turn and go under as if to float.

Batavia Receives Fire Insurance Rate Reduction

Apparent Hit-Skip Incident Probed
