Aid is sought for the Puckett family after a bolt of lightning struck their home nearly destroying it. Residents John 15, Linda 14, Joan 6, and Jeanne 4 were inside when fire damaged the house, with losses estimated at $8,000.

Commission OKs Health Budget for Clermont County

A joint Clermont County Board of Health and Budget Commission meeting on July 5 approved the Health Department budget of 78000 for 1963, up 4 from 1962, to adjust salaries under the Ohio State Central Merit System. No new nurses funded for school health. Township and municipal contributions will exceed 1962 levels due to fee declines. A 1964 health levy was discussed to widen county health programs and ease local financial pressure.

Mallory Named Principal of Clermont Northeastern High

Guy H. Mallory of Hillsboro is appointed principal of Clermont Northeastern high school at Owensville on a three year contract. He will begin duties August 1. Mallory, a native Ohioan, brings 14 years in education and 10 in business. He taught at Ohio Wesleyan University and served as Delaware County schools superintendent. He attended Ohio State University and is married with three sons.

School Building Bonds Purchased by New Richmond Exempted Schools

The Ohio Co. and Associates of Columbus bought the New Richmond Exempted Schools building bond issue worth 2.5 million at 3 percent interest with a 28000 premium. One million dollars will fund Monroe and Pierce school improvements, the remainder for a new high school.

The Women’s Democratic Club of Clermont County met to finalize plans for the July 28 picnic inviting all Democrats. Governor DiSalle is asked to speak and state and district candidates will attend. A merchandise car prize will be awarded. Tickets are on sale.

The Day Highets Garden Club releases the Clermont County fair flower show schedule for 1962 with Elsa Van de Pas as show chairman and Thurmas Anderson as co chair. Clermont Northeastern Students Honored for High Marks

Three Clermont Northeastern high school students earned honors on the Southwestern Ohio District State Scholarship Tests. Ed Curran and Robert Ray receive congratulations from Ray Spornhauer, Northeastern biology and world history teacher. Ray Spornhauer notes Ray took tenth in district world history and Curran placed twentieth in district biology.

GI Loan Benefits Expire For Some Veterans

Veterans of World War II are cautioned that their entitlement to GL loan benefits will expire on July 25, 1962. J C Robison, manager of the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Cincinnati Ohio, notes veterans have ten years of entitlement from discharge plus one additional year for each ninety days of service.

Church Women Turn Out Vases For Parish Festival

Rosary Altar Society members at Bernadette Church formed 30 decorative vases from plastic bottles for the July 15 parish festival. Mrs. Vernon Brusport says despite initial resistance the group produced attractive pieces, handed to Mrs. Louis Wilson for the dinner service.

Williamsburg College Loan Fund Nears Goal

The Williamsburg College Loan Fund is $200 short of a $2500 goal for the current school year. Five Williamsburg seniors have been approved for loans enabling college entry in September. Contributions from local groups and individuals support the fund with more drive planned to raise about $2000 for 1962 63.
