Serious Injury To Miss Hilda Cochran In Hamersville Alighting
Miss Hilda Cochran of Hamersville was seriously injured while alighting from a mail car after a shopping trip to Bethel. She struggled with bundles on the steps and fell onto a mowing machine on the Hamersville platform, dislocating her ankle and sustaining other injuries.

Judge sentences Darke county graft case defendants
Judge Kyle of Xenia last week imposed sentences for graft in Darke county. Noah Sipple, former commissioner, got one year for presenting and collecting a $40.15 fraudulent bill. Perry Turner, former janitor, one year for forgery. Ed Fry, contractor, two years for submitting a fraudulent labor bill. They must report to the county sheriff Monday to begin serving.

M Ridings reports a hog near Coraddale that weighed 918 pounds at selling time after fattening on corn and alfalfa last fall. The hog yielded 600 pounds of lard 100 pounds of sausage 85 pounds of bones and 100 pounds of joints and the tare was one fifth. The age is not stated.

Fatal Steam Burn Claims Walter Curliss at Ivorydale
Walter Curliss son of Titus Curliss died after a steam boiler explosion scalded him at Ivorydale soap works. He was introduced to boiling glue while substituting for a vacationing coworker. a steam pipe burst, burning him severely and he died that evening. He leaves a widow and a 12 year old son. his father died two months earlier. Burial followed in Williamsburg.

Horse Drives Buggy Crash Breaks Swartz Leg Near Batavia Park
Stanley Swartz aged 16, a half brother of Mrs W A Joseph, was thrown from a buggy when his horse frightened by oncoming traffic at Gestville avenue after a Batavia League Park game. His nephew Howard Joseph escaped with minor bruises. Swartz suffered a broken leg below the knee and was taken to W A Joseph’s home for care. He will be laid up for the rest of the summer. His home is near Owensville.
