Bright faced Patterson graduates from Clermont County filled Batavia last Saturday for diploma ceremonies. County examiners awarded diplomas after township commencements and teacher attestations, enabling each pupil to enter high school at their home township's expense. The Batavia hall program drew a large crowd as students received their diplomas with smiles while the Batavia orchestra played.

Route of First Regiment to Fort Ancient Expedition
The 1st Ohio Infantry led by Lt Col H B Glancy will march from Cincinnati July 20 at 8 a.m. through Avondale Norwood to Pleasant Ridge, bivouac at Mrs Rugg farm, then Morrow, arriving at Ft Ancient after several days. Bethel Victimless Death: Dr Frank Clossman Ends Own Life
Dr Frank Clossman, once a Zanesville dentist for 30 years, died by self-inflicted gunshot Wednesday at Bethel while his son reported him distressed and unable to sleep. He had moved to Bethel to run a growing grocery business with his son and was survived by seven children. He was buried Thursday in Bethel Cemetery.

Stricken Louis Hicks Suffers Paralysis in Clermont
Louis Hicks of Frazier and Hicks, former Clermont prosecuting attorney for two terms, was struck by paralysis on Monday morning. He felt a queer sensation while attempting to rise and dress, then collapsed and was later confirmed by a doctor as paralysis after a second stroke. Mrs Hicks and sister Anna Belle Hopkins were summoned home from Indianapolis for a month’s visit.
