County phone service plan seeks PUC OK for upgrades
Cincinnati and Suburban Bell Telephone Co plans to file with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for improvements in south western Clermont County. The plan includes fewer parties per line, optional Cincinnati service at extended area rates for Tabasco Williamsville, and changes in Amelia and Tabasco rate areas. Construction of a reinforced concrete building for switching equipment would follow after PUC approval, with service expected about two years later.

Major Henry A. Rattermann, retired Army officer and real estate editor of The Clermont Courier, died Sunday at his Mt. Carmel Road home. A World War II and Korea era veteran, he edited the Clermont section since 1953 and authored many stories promoting Clermont as a home area. His last piece, “The Citizen Soldier,” will be published later.

Scholarships Awarded To Countians For Teaching Prep
Harold J. Bowers announced 465 Ohio high school graduates received scholarships for two year elementary teacher education in 24 state colleges. Clermont County recipients include Yvonne Heaton Janet Cossens Ida Mae Jordan Monica Evans and Donna Smith. Each $500 grant comes from the Ohio Scholarship Fund to relieve teacher shortages, with repayment required if the recipient does not teach in Ohio.
