The Newtonsville Church of the Nazarene will host a Daily Vacation Bible School directed by Rev. Hilas Custer Marathon Ohio and Miss Lillian Thacker Williamsburg Ohio. Classes run July 12 to 16 from 9 am to 3 pm for ages 4 to 12 with a courtesy car and noon lunch. milk provided. A July 17 picnic and July 18 program in the church auditorium will award certificates to graduates.

Roland Martin operates Dr. Wm. Gillespie's 305 acre Batavia area farm as Clermont Soil Conservation District cooperators push contour cultivation on 225 acres and strip cropping on 6. They also improve 308 acres of pasture and plant wildlife cover in 32 pond areas. Conservation activity includes 128 acres of woodland, 15 acres of forest trees, two ponds, 6.5 miles of terraces, 1750 feet of water ditches, and drainage of 219 farmland acres. Forty six applications for assistance and 21 cooperative plans were completed in the past six months, part of 204 signed since 1943. David V. Fette of the U.S. Soil Conservation Service stated the district’s progress.

Carl Leggett Found Guilty in Assault Case in Clermont
Carl Leggett of Bethel was found guilty of assault and battery by a Clermont County Common Pleas Court jury. Judge Harry Britton presided as Leggett faced charges of mistreating his six year old stepson. His wife Ruth serves six months for a similar charge.

Twin calves born near Milford on Surgener farm
A heifer and a bull, the first known twins from artificial insemination, were born Sunday May 30 on William H. Surgener’s Goshen Pike farm east of Milford. The calves weigh 50 to 60 pounds, mother inseminated by Dr John Range, Williamsburg, and father a full blood Ayresire bull from a Columbus area farm. Names Nip and Tuck have been chosen for the bull and heifer.

Milford man fined for head-on Route 74 crash
Fred Martin of Milford Rt. 2 was fined in Batavia Mayor Munden's court on two counts reckless driving and driving while intoxicated after a Route 74 head-on crash with Harold Brown, Clermont County Probation Officer. He paid $50 plus costs on one charge and $100 plus costs on the other, with $125 suspended to cover damage to Brown's car. Deputy Marvin Bissantz made the arrest.

Traffic Check Report From Batavia and New Richmond
State Highway Patrol conducted a traffic check in Batavia and New Richmond on July 2 and 3.
