Sheriff Reports Burglary Leads Vermont County Crime List

Sheriff Donald Watson releases second quarter crime figures for Vermont County. Burglary tops offenses with April to June activity, alongside 99 assault arrests, 2 rapes, 28 auto thefts, 21 malicious destruction cases, 13 misdimeanor MDPS, and 10 petit larceny arrests. Patrols logged 141,834 miles. 896 property services conducted. 12,? etc.

Missing Bethel boy Tony Wooten last seen July 9

Missing 14 year old Anthony Gunn Wooten of SR 133 Bethel, auburn hair brown eyes grey dress trousers and a Boy Scout watch. Last seen at 10 a m Sunday July 9 by his parents when leaving for church. Sheriff Donald Watson reports no leads and asks anyone with information to notify authorities or contact his parents at 734.

Schools Get Book Antitrust Refund

The second distribution of settlement funds from an antitrust suit over library editions of children's books was sent to Clermont schools and municipalities. Felicity district received 520.41 dollars, Goshen 1 478.70, Loveland 987.92, and New Richmond 722.36 with totals to date. final distribution will be in January 1973 and checks mailed statewide to 436 districts and libraries.

Area Delegates Named From Sixth District for Humphrey

Four residents of the Sixth Congressional District were chosen in the Democrat primary as Humphrey delegates at the national convention in Miami. Two others were named alternates. Delegates are Robert Arnett, Gladys E. Davis, Mildred L. Davis and Ottie Reno. Alternates pledged to Humphrey are Carol Ginn and Robert M. Smith.

Homestead Tax Relief Extended By Ohio Legislature

The Ohio General Assembly extended the filing deadline for the 1972 Homestead real estate tax relief to August 1 for seniors 64 and over. Existing filers had 1248 applications on June 5 with County Auditor Arnold Stumpf. Those whose income does not exceed a limit may now apply for 1972, using only husband and wife income for eligibility on a sliding scale.

The Williamsburg Board of Education invites bids to furnish materials for the Williamsburg High School Music Building addition. Bids are due at the Clerk J. Richard Hamm's office by 12 noon on July 26 and will be opened thereafter.

Hines Quits Goshen Township Trustee Post After 20 Years

Bud Hines resigned after more than two decades as chairman of the Township Clerks and Trustees Association of Clermont County. The move follows disputes over police protection for Goshen and a proposed village incorporation. A November levy approved hiring an additional worker, but questions remained about services.

Court Clerk Report Shows Fee Increase

The Russell Simmons Court Clerk reports rising fees over three six month periods. Fees collected rose from 1970 to 1972, with car and boat title registrations and state sales tax receipts all showing gains. The Milford Title Office now extends Friday hours until 6 pm.

Trench Collapse Claims Life Of Pipe Layer In Day Heights

Wayne Loudermilk of Milford-Miami Life Squad reports an earth slide at Day Dr and St. Rt. 131 in Day Heights buried 31-year-old Robert Dale under several feet of dirt 9 a.m. Tuesday. Dale, a Gallenstein Construction worker since April, died at the scene after a 18 to 20 foot trench cave in while he stood on a ladder. Rescue teams worked about an hour. Dr. William Sennick declared him dead. Dale remained unidentified until a co worker confirmed his identity. he was from Alabama. Body taken to Hamilton County morgue.

Trustees Let Bldg Contract for Township Maintenance Building

At a special meeting Monroe Two trustees awarded a contract to Spec- Fab Company for a new township maintenance building. Two bids were received. Amherst Building Company was ruled unacceptable for late bid and missing bond. Architect W. K. Shilling submitted the plans. Estimated cost between $15,000 and $16,000. Location south of Nicholsville on SR 222.

Residents object to subdivision plat over road width and easements

Stanley Wernz and other residents oppose Romohr Road plat noting it serves only half a street and lacks fire access. They fear inadequate road width and required easements for septic and sand fills. The Land Development Committee previously rejected the plat. trustees and commissioners must decide legal involvement and future sewer plans.
