Daylight Assault and Auto Crash Injure Several
John Uhl of Monterey aged 70 was assaulted and robbed of 15 dollars while asleep in his yard last Friday noon. He suffered a long scalp wound and bruises and woke across the road in weeds. Nearby a collision involving Anna Grunder Alma Ohm Chester George and Raymond Clayton of Cincinnati occurred when George Hugo driving from Batavia passed them causing their car to crash into a ditch. Alma Ohm suffered a dislocated knee and the group was taken to Cincinnati for treatment.

Mrs G G Bambach wife of Captain Bambach of Columbus Ohio died at her home in Columbus last Sunday. She lived there for years after marrying Captain Bambach who was cashier of the Ripley National Bank then Bethel National Bank later and finally moved to Columbus where they resided. She is survived by her husband and several children.

Last Thursday Sheriff John B. Rapp seized a twenty five gallon still south of Afton in full operation. Two and a half barrels of mash and ten gallons of whiskey were taken to Batavia as evidence. The operator, Ed Shuda Pole a 32 year old married man, was also seized. State Prohibition Agent Frank filed the affidavit.

Fire at Summerside Destroys Barn and Crib
On Saturday last a fire destroyed the barn and corn crib of L. P. Moore at Summerside along the Cincinnati pike below Batavis. Neighbors formed a bucket line and saved the residence and store after the barn and crib were lost. A city fire engine arrived before extinguishment. the fire was partly insured.
