Germann health dept row widens with new motions and charges

Attorney Chris Rosenhoffer files motions to suppress evidence photos from Sky Hill Recreation Park taken by Clermont County Health sanitarians. Dr Paul Germann faces charges including armed robbery and malicious destruction of property after a park incident. Bond set at 50 dollars per charge. Hearing slated for Thursday on multiple charges plus a snack bar operation case and related writs. A separate libel suit against the health board and Dr Alvert Van Sickle remains unresolved. Trees along Main Street sprayed and fertilized by merchants to aid watering in dry spells.

Ex Countian Named National ARC Public Information Director

Neal English, son of Mrs. Edna English of 426 Main Street, Louveiauu, was named national director of Public Information for the American National Red Cross, effective July 1, announced June 28 by ARC President General James F. Collins. English, former assistant national director of Public Information since 1960, succeeds Roy E. Johnson who retired June 30. He has a long history with the Red Cross in Cincinnati and Vermont counties and contributed to disaster relief after Hurricane Carla in 1961 and the Alaskan earthquake earlier this year. He was publicity director for Hallmark Productions in Wilmington, Delaware, and Hollywood, and previously classified advertising manager of the Kensan Daily Gazette. He is a World War II veteran and member of PRSA, with active Boy Scout work. He and his wife Grace and two sons reside at 521 North Oakland Street, Arlington, Virginia.

Residents Oppose Zoning Proposal in Batavia

Meadowbrook Drive residents in Batavia voted unanimously against a zoning change from neighborhood business to general business. The proposal would allow bottled gas storage near the street, sparking safety and property value concerns. The council will study the plan further before deciding. Batavia Grange No. 2450 announces an inspection night on Thursday July 8 with new member candidacies and refreshments.

Groundbreaking Ceremony for Holy Trinity Church Ed Building

Holy Trinity Church Bata via held a ground breaking ceremony at 11 15 a m on Sundays for a new religious education building to rise on the current ball diamond rear site. Attending were Robert Shibley Milford contractor Robert Steinkamp Steinkamp Nordloh Milford architects Mrs Clara Glancy parish elder and Rev John Coghlan pastor. The 92 by 41 foot structure will seat 300 and can be divided into six units with a center corridor. Wash rooms kitchen office storage and mechanical rooms are included. Occupancy is expected by early autumn.

Union Township sewer project bids opened for 3.1 million system

Clermont County commissioners opened bids Tuesday for the Union Township sewer collection system valued at 3.1 million dollars. Proposals covered two bid options, with costs estimated at around 1.06 and 1.20 million dollars. Bidders include W L Harper Cincinnati Birch Dayton and Peaker Cincinnati among others as agencies await review by the Housing and Home Finance Agency and the Public Health Service.

Beard Contest Judges Chosen for Batavia Sesquicentennial

Three women have been named as judges for the Batavia Beardsman contest part of the Sesquicentennial celebration. Don Evans says prizes await those with the longest, neatest, and most unusual beards mustaches and sideburns with certificates for all participants. The contest will be at 7:30 p m on Wednesday July 22 in front of the Main Street log cabin. entry cards are available where this story is displayed.
