A set of four large four by five foot posters depicting themes from U.S. stamps goes on sale in post offices. The items, aimed at collectors, feature different facets of American life and are sold only through post offices.
The body of Capt. John Speidel 25 died June 24 from war injuries after a helicopter crash in Vietnam was brought to Oakland California. He was the sole survivor of the wreck and died four days after his wedding anniversary. He married Ellen Early of Milford on June 20 1970 and their first child a daughter was born about a month ago. Clermontee Corn will bid by July 16 for depository designation for two year funds Aug 24 1971 with 250000 dollars in inactive funds included.
Membership and general chairmen praised the total campaign which surpassed 100000 in the Dan Beard Council area. Clermont and Brown Counties units are among 13 districts. Kramer assured funds will expand Scouting to more boys. Clermont chair Doug Wright could not attend the ceremony.
The State Highway Department approves extra funds for Clermont County to finance a large road improvement push aimed at resurfacing 38 miles and blacktop 29 miles in Batavia Union and Goshen townships. Bids open July 16 with several roads named for resurfacing. Also notes Fourth of July courtesy road service and post office closures on Independence Day.
Peter Urban of Batavia owns parcels at 2342 Williamsburg Batavia Pike and parcels on Herald Road and SR 32 to serve as potential library sites. Clermont County Commissioners are asked to authorize a 2.4 mill levy to draft a ballot resolution. The library board studies multiple plans but none final. no construction date set.
Trustees Tom Clepper James True and Al Fangman approve 2.22 miles of Binning Rd repairs not to exceed 10000 dollars from County Engineer Rush. Six June meetings noted with 27000 dollar county payment for blacktopping 15 township roads.
Clermont County Sheriff's office seeks a 29145 grant to fund a 38860 radio facility package including a base station mobile and walkie talkie units. The county plans a 9715 local match. Fred W Engleman will present the request to District 13 Crime Control Council on July 8 with expected full approval. The grant would move to the Ohio Law Enforcement Planning Agency in Columbus for this year.
Clermont County Commissioners approve annexation of about 700 acres along Bethel New Richmond Road to the Village of New Richmond. Area lies east of the village and includes existing schools and churches with growth tied to new tax base and flood‑district expansion. Local council action expected with little delay.
The High Court announces new rules effective Jan 1 1972. Grand jury sessions will occur on the Wednesday of each month starting August with Judge Schwartz and Judge Hill dividing cases by even and odd numbers. Commitments require action within 60 days of binding over and trials within six months of arraignment.
William C March is named vice president of Citizensbank National Association by Phil Gatch, chair of the board. A former assistant cashier at Central Trust Co Cincinnati for 12 years and loan manager at Commercial Credit Corp Baltimore for eight years, March holds an associate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and has graduate study in geology. He is active as a Cincinnati Civil War Round Table trustee, member of the Bank Marketing Association and Calvary Baptist Church Latonia and plans to move to Clermont County.
