The Amelia Church of Christ Vacation Bible School promoted enthusiasm with a 20 ft banana split using 12 pounds of bananas and 19 half gallons of ice cream consumed in about 30 minutes. David Cordrey praised Beach's Hardware for donating to the event and noted the week’s excitement ahead of Christ.

Four Juveniles Cited in Break In at Hi Port Beverage
Batavia Police Chief N C Ward cited four juveniles aged 13 to 15 to Juvenile Court on charges of breaking and entering and theft. They allegedly entered Hi Port Beverage at 282 Spring St on June 11 and June 16, stealing beer and wine. Four cases of beverages were recovered behind Batavia Cemetery.

Beard is treated at Jewish Hospital for a dislocated disc and lacerations and released. Witness Schank says traffic backed up from a one way bridge hindered visibility and a morist motioned through. Beard cited for failure to yield the right of way.

A crowd gathered as Williamsburg Township unveiled a $34,000 pumper funded by a fire protection levy. The Howe pumper features a 360 degree view control panel, 1,000 gallons per minute capacity, 1200 feet of 2 inch hose and 600 feet of 1 inch hose, two 150 foot cross-lays, two booster reels, a 500 gallon tank, and a gasoline portable pump. The unit arrives from Dearborn, Indiana with officials and town residents in attendance.
