Crusaders Youth Elect Officers in Batavia

The Salvation Army Crusaders youth group in Batavia elected officers on January 4. New officers are Ginny Anslinger as president Jerry Teague as vice president Sara Dalton as secretary Tim League as treasurer and Sarah Helton as sergeant at arms. The group meets Thursdays 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 60 N Riverside Drive. Membership open to youth of all ages and denominations. Activities include parties hikes picnics with a 15 minute devotional. Farm Tax Up Date Meeting In Batavia

Clermont County Cooperative Extension sponsors a Farm Tax Up-Date Meeting on Wednesday Jan 31 at 8 p.m. in the Extension Office Conference Room 3rd floor 76 S Riverside Dr Batavia. County investments anger county official over duties

County Treasurer Albert Hines clashed with commissioners over investment responsibilities and critiqued staff performance. The board recalled a past incident when a Friday check wasn't invested until Monday, worth about 1800 dollars, amid a broader audit of 1979 general funds and revenue sharing.

Milford residents complain of county dog citations

Milford officials dispute the number of dog complaints in South Milford as the Clermont County Animal Shelter logs thirty two reports since November. Hannah White notes state law requires dogs to be confined to owners property and wardens prioritize emergency calls while patrolling with three wardens and two vans across the county.

No law enforcers popular says Humane Society president

Harvey Hines head of the Humane Society told The Courier complaints about dog wardens rose as the first enforcement of Clermont County’s dog leash law began. He noted the leash law is a state rule under Section 955 of the Ohio Revised Code and that the Humane Society contracts with the county to manage wardens, funded by dog license sales, with 30 to 40 board members and over 500 members total.
