The Clermont Courier calls for submissions for a special February 28 issue focusing on Clermont County. Readers from business, schools, churches, and government are invited to share how they started, their current status, and future goals. Include name and title, and optionally a photo.
The New Richmond Village Council and Mayor Art Galea invite residents to an informal meeting on Saturday February 10 from 10 to 12 noon in the mayor's office to air complaints and discuss village improvements. Council members will also be available on the second and fourth Saturdays. Don Haley assists recreation. Batavia signs up baseball and softball players February 10 1 to 3 p.m. at Batavia Village Municipal Building.
Clermont County commissioners completed the fiscal year 1979 general fund appropriations totaling 4.4 million with the sheriff’s department obtaining 869 200 the largest share. Other major allocations include 463 911 to another department and 184 500 to the treasurer. Revenue from property taxes is projected at 1 714 512 reflecting a six year reappraisal raising real estate values to 714 927 263.
I CARE members and supporters protest importing Kentucky toxic wastes to Clermont Reclamation Center site. Lois Hancock notes limited active members. plan to align with Ralph Nader’s group in Washington for support. Zoning officials served a violation notice. about 20 I CARE/SCARE members rallied at court. a Saturday caravan is planned. Malott to push a General Assembly bill.
Humane counsel notes 113 chickens adopted while 979 dog wardens enforce law. Total 1895 animals adopted, mostly dogs and cats, with 311 reclaimed and 7614 destroyed. Fifty eight animals were dead on arrival. Licenses issued 1576. Cruelty cases 193. Citations 2151 issued by staff. Helwig 907, Bates 529, Schmidt 274, Andrews 270, Lorentz 169, Roth 2.
