Welfare Employee Gets Pay Increase in County Department

Charlotte Tomamichel, a clerk typist for the county welfare department, receives a raise from 145 to 152 dollars a month. The increase was approved by the county commissioner on the recommendation of Collord Deel, department director, with the Civil Service Commission supervising the position.

Newport Man Dies In Fall While Erecting Sign

Clifford Robert Switzer 45 of 238 East Third St Newport Ky died at 1 p m Wednesday after falling from a ladder while erecting a sign on Route 74 east of Batavia He worked for Turner Sign Co Covington and is survived by his wife Gertrude Deputy Frank Hutchinson investigated and the body was moved to Moore funeral home Batavia Dr A A Gruber county coroner had not determined the cause of death at press time.

Class To Finance Trip By Selling Subscriptions

Stanley Anstaett principal of Amelia elementary announces sixth grade will sell subscriptions to The Courier to fund its annual Cincinnati Zoo trip. This marks the eighth consecutive year of the fundraiser under Anstaett. He asks residents to allow time for students to explain when they call.

Accident Victim Mrs White in Good Condition After Crash

Mrs. Clifford White of Amelia, bookkeeper for the Clermont Sun Publishing Co., Batavia, is in good condition at Good Samaritan Hospital after a Friday morning crash on Davis Pike Hill. Her car overturned, wedged against a tree stump, pinning her inside. She suffered a fractured collarbone and three fractured ribs and was transported by Maham ambulance from Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

Pomona Grange Plans For Year

Pomona Grange outlines a year of county meetings and events. Tillie Atchley reports a March 28 meeting at Williamsburg school cafeteria with a town rural get-together and grange workers night. A Rural Life and Memorial Service is planned for June 30 at Owensville Fair Grounds and a July 28 religious gathering is set. A talent night will replace juvenile talent and booster programs.

County Board Acts On Purchases And Repairs

The board relieves the auditor as clerk and authorizes Carl Rush to buy a used snow plow from White Gravel Co for 400 dollars from highway funds. It approves purchasing a Ford motor for loading equipment. Culvert work on Woodville Pike near State Rt 28 is ordered. Ditches on Jackson Pike at Owensville will be cleaned next year at Mrs Gladys Gaffin’s request.

Clermont County Board Replaces Auditor with Full-Time Clerk

Democrat members of the Clermont County board of commissioners vote to replace Auditor Earle B. Kincaid with Mrs. Lee Barbieri as full-time clerk. They name M. Dale Osborne as assistant to the clerk at 220 dollars a month. Barbieri’s salary remains 280 dollars. Prosecutor Hill says the auditor is legally the clerk, but may be relieved by hiring staff under his supervision.

Junior Tourney Begins Tomorrow and Insurance Appointee

E B Hendrixson of Hendrixson Insurance Agency Batavia was named to the Rural and Small Lines Agents Committee of the Ohio Association of Insurance Agents. The Clermont junior high basketball tournament starts Friday with four games at Felicity and Williamsburg. Tournament brackets run February 2, 7 and 9 at Amelia and Williamsburg with trophies for champions runners-up and consolation. Miss Louise E Nuxoll will visit Batavia Armory February 5 from 9:00 am to noon for Social Security information.
