Fire Ends Life In Williamsburg Market Blaze
A 74 year old woman died in a fire at Frank Ott's Food Market on Third Street Williamsburg. Frank Ott and his wife Virginia and three children escaped upstairs but he failed to save his mother-in-law Mrs Margaret Kernes trapped on a stair landing. Williamsburg and Batavia firefighters fought the flames but could not reach Kernes. Building owner Charles Carter of Cincinnati carried insurance. Estimated damage was $40 000 to the building and furnishings. Clermont County officials attended the scene and a later council meeting was scheduled at the American Legion home Batavia.
