Large Food Aid Arrives for Clermont County CWA Distribution

Clermont County receives 10 000 pounds smoked pork 3 000 pounds butter 500 bags flour 2444 pounds beef in transit. Supplies will be sent to Batavia and distributed weekly by county trucks through local committees. Wm Dowdney becomes County Food Administrator with Carl Leftze replacing him as Fred Croswell's assistant.

Farm Women's Club Marks 17th Anniversary With Pot Luck

The East Fork Progressive Farm Woman's Club celebrated its 17th anniversary with a pot luck supper and program at the home of Mr and Mrs Cy D Harbaugh. Alma Hunter read, Harlow led contests won by Gillett and Caldwell, a Colored Sermon of the NIRA by Mr Sutton, a quartet by Mulloy Caldwell Atchley and Harbaugh, stunts by Mark Atchley, and a recitation by Gillett. Elizabeth Harlow honored for near perfect attendance over 17 years with four charter members remaining.

Poets' Union Holds Quarterly Meeting in Batavia

The Poets Union of Brown and Clermont Counties met Saturday at the Presbyterian Church in Batavia with members from four counties. Poems from three states were read and 87 year old Mrs Della Stickel of Batavia played a piano solo and contributed a poem read by her granddaughter.

Birthday Party Aids Warm Springs Drive In Clermont County

State inspector Harmon visited Clermont last week to tour CWA projects across four counties. He noted improvements in berm cleaning and ditch work, with employment trimmed to 15 hours weekly and several workers cut from payroll. Clermont hosted a 600 attendee Birthday celebration for the president and the Warm Springs Foundation at the Batavia O N G Armory, featuring a cake walk and Crosley Radio floor show. Judge Nichols backs Sawyer for Ohio governor bid

Judge Hugh L. Nichols Batavia attorney and former Ohio Chief Justice endorses Chas. Sawyer of Cincinnati for the Democratic nomination. Nichols asks Sawyer to allow his name to be used in the August primary noting Sawyer's record and leadership would suit the 1934 campaign.

Ripley Market Reports Strong Burley Sales On Week

Burley tobacco on the Ripley market last week averaged 8.05 per hundred, about 50 cents higher than the prior week. Monday, baskets opened at 1.50, bought on house account if not raised by buyers. High basket sold for 27, with many mid-twenties. total sales exceeded one million pounds for the second straight week, reaching 1,124,205 pounds and raising season totals to 3,870,255 pounds.

A county recorder will be elected at the November election as ruled by the Court of Appeals. The term will be two years instead of four. A regular monthly meeting is planned for Friday February 2 with a good program and public invitation.

Ohio Liquor Board Plans Statewide Stores With 200 Brands

Ohio plans to convert Liquor Store Ohio into a liquor dispensing corporation with a budget of 3.5 to 5 million dollars to stock state stores across 88 counties. About 200 brands at shelves, six-person per store staffing, managers earning 2400 annually, bids closed January 22, Clermont County to host a store yet unnamed.

Clermont County men honored at Production Credit meeting

Walter L. Cowdrey of Williamsburg and Ray Ferree of Goshen were named directors at a Clermont County farmers Production Credit Association meeting in Lebanon. Other Clermont incorporators included E. County plans corn hog payment forms for 1934 relief

County corn hog growers in Batavia receive blanks to report two year base data for corn acreage and hog production and attach sale slips or farm records as proof. The goal is to reduce a 1934 pork surplus by a quarter of a billion pounds and to outline base years and idle land percentages. A sample contract and explanatory leaflet were included.

The Clermont County Agricultural Society held its annual meeting at Owensville. L B Pollock is president, L G Davis vice president, A F Kayser treasurer, J B Rapp secretary. Milford Girls Rally Falls Short to Batavia 14 10

Milford girls staged two late rallies to edge Batavia 14 to 10 in Friday's game. Batavia led 12 6 after the first quarter and 18 18 at halftime, with Boles and McAfee aiding Batavia's attack. Boots Kinner added a late long goal as Batavia held off Milford. Batavia’s Boles McAfee Spaulding totaled 82 points for the night.
