A four person census staff under the CWA will survey Clermont County businesses. The crew includes Ex 1 Kincaid Mt Carmel Helen Gallagher and Mrs Harriet Wiseman Batavia Mrs Myers Edenton. They will work 80 hours weekly.

Clermont Farm Bureau Elects Officers and Plans Bulk Plant

Robert R. Caldwell of Owensville was elected President and Edward C. Saxton of Goshen Secretary at the Clermont Farm Bureau Cooperative Association Inc. organization meeting in Batavia. The group seeks a spring bulk plant at ground leased from Norfolk & Western Railroad to serve Clermont and parts of Hamilton and Brown counties. Deadline Set for Beauty Shop Licenses

The State Board of Cosmetology fixes February 15 as the licensing deadline for beauty shops and operators. Applicants filing before then will receive licenses. those after face board examinations. February 1 is the Barber Examiners deadline after four extensions. about 15,000 barbers are licensed without exams, while the rest must pass an exam for a $10 fee plus a $2 license if they pass.

FDIC reports about 639.5 million dollars of deposits in Ohio banks have been safeguarded under federal insurance. It covers 2,765,431 depositors with more than 95 percent insured in full. The insured amount and protected depositor count reflect only 614 of 634 FDIC member banks.

Recorders Won’t Appeal Four Year Term Decision

In Columbus Ohio rumors suggested county recorders would appeal the court of appeals ruling that the term extension from two to four years across 86 counties was invalid. The decision is broadly popular and would have added two years to terms. now recorders must leave office or seek reelection with uncertain results. The appeals court voided the act including the repealing clause and the two year term limit.

Auto tag colors for 1935 motorists urged

More than 300 applications for 1935 auto licenses show strong approval for the new tag type. The plates, designed by Highway Director C. W. Merrell and Motor Registrar Glen M. Daily, will be smaller with low numbers and letters and lemon numerals on a dark blue background.

Not Guilty Plea From Jail in Adams County Murder Case

Ephriam Wilson 238, confined in West Union jail with a bullet wound, pleaded not guilty to first degree murder charges from his cot. Judge J W Bagby met Wilson in his cell as the prisoner awaits trial and recovery. Trial date pending healing.

Ely Improves After Illness During Trial

Attorney Forrest Ely of Batavia was stricken with blood poisoning while handling the Dudley Dixon case in the Court of Common Pleas last Friday. He fainted, was removed home, then taken to Christ Hospital Cincinnati on Saturday and is recovering. Ely is regarded as a promising Clermont County lawyer.

Dudley Dixon Acquitted in Concealed Weapons Case

Dudley Dixon of Felicity was acquitted in Common Pleas Court after a two day trial before Judge White and prosecutor Frank Roberts. The case involved 30 witnesses. Dixon was defended by attorney Forrest Ely and the county pays the costs.

Batavia High basketball teams post weekend results

Batavia High School basketball split results with two wins one loss and a tie. Girls under Miss Adda Bert beat Owensville 14 13 and tied Loveland 16 16 while boys lost to Owensville then beat Loveland 25 20. Refereed by George Wright of Bellevue High School. Next, both teams travel to Georgetown Friday for season finale at the Armory Brown County.

A five evening first aid and life saving course organized Monday night at the O N G Armory in Batavia forms part of a Vermont county CWA safety drive. Foremen on CWA projects attend.
