Nellie Breeding Griffith, daughter of Judge and Mrs T P Breeding, born 1885, educated at Batavia High School and Oxford College, married to Moses Simpson Griffith in 1907, led a public life as elocutionist and club worker before her death January 25 1917. She leaves husband brother Carl L Breeding and aunt Mollie Long with many friends.

Batavia hosted a triple header last Friday night with 260 locals and 100 Bethel rooters, the largest crowd of the season. Mrs J W Bradford of George town died after being burned near an open fire while bathing her seven month old baby. Passersby found her clothes ablaze and efforts to save her failed. The infant was unharmed. She was wife of the linotype operator at the News-Democrat.

Removal of Brick Plant Contemplated by State Board
The Board of Administration plans to move the state's brick plant from Junction City in Perry county to the Athens State Hospital grounds this spring. Engineers report no better fire clay or shale in the state than that under the hospital area, and the Junction City lease at 4000 dollars a year expires April 1.
