J B Covert Lodge Plans Groundbreaking for New Temple

J B Covert Lodge No 437 will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new temple on Sunday February 2 at 2 30 p m at the site on Clough and Williamsville Glen Este Road. GOP Speaker Fred Rice to Address Clermont County Club

Fred Rice state registrar of motor vehicles will be guest speaker at the February 13 Clermont County Republican Club meeting at First Milford Savings Association Milford. Rice appointed by Gov. Rhodes in 1965 after earlier serving as state fire marshal and two years as a state legislator. He is a WWII veteran and chairs the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee.

Milford Seeks Aid To Upgrade Sewage Plant

Three Milford Public Affairs members traveled to Columbus to obtain state and federal aid for a $42,000 upgrade to Milford’s sewage treatment plant. Superintendent Hilge and officials met with Ohio Water Pollution Control Board and Health Department staff to file papers and pursue funding.

Physician Named Health Official in Clermont County

Dr. R. Kirby Lancaster of Summerside has been named Clermont County Health Commissioner succeeding Dr. Francis E. Demarais at a salary of 5200 a year. The appointment marks the first step in department revision led by J B Whitt. Replacement for Lancaster will be named Feb 3 by the County Health Advisory Council.

Death of Common Pleas Judge M Dale Osborne

Funeral services were held for 55 year old Common Pleas Judge M Dale Osborne of Milford after a long illness. He died January 23 at Christ Hospital from a malignant tumor. He leaves a wife Frances and daughter Myrna Hixson, plus three grandchildren and siblings. Osborne served on the Common Pleas Court since 1963 after county court service and taught earlier as a teacher and worked at Procter & Gamble before practicing law. He also edited the Miami Valley News. Nephews Edward and W Ted Osborne are noted attorneys.

New Richmond Annexation Hearing Set for Feb 5

Clermont County commissioners will hold a public hearing at 10 am next Wednesday Feb 5 on a 2500 acre annexation plan doubling New Richmond. The proposal includes riverfront and hill areas and would bring in schools and future growth sites. A petition signed by 146 of 210 local freeholders is on file with no removals noted.

Miami Township Pushes Intersection Zoning Plan

Clermont County planning officials urged Miami and Union Townships to adopt two planned development zones near the Circle Freeway intersections with SR 28 and Wards Corner Road. Each zone would cover at least 10 acres for residential, commercial, or industrial use, with public identification of investors debated. Public hearings will spell out detailed restrictions.
