Clermont Shrine Club Forms From Local Shriners

Local Shriners met January 6 at Amelia Lions Clubhouse to organize the Clermont Shrine Club replacing the dissolved ABC Club with over 200 members. A second meeting is set for February 3 at 7 30 p m in Amelia. Officers elected include Don Evans Ralph Frazier and Nick Visnic with additional posts filled by O H Sharp Earl Wolf Matt Storch and Carl Rush. Rush also named Shrine ticket sales chairman for the annual Cincinnati Gardens circus benefiting the Crippled Children's Hospital.

Vocational Education Survey Planned for County Teens

Robert K. Slade announced a state and Milford guidance team will conduct a vocational education interest survey for 10th and 11th graders. The kickoff will be at Batavia High School on February 9 under Sam Angus from the Department of Education, with counselors from all county high schools attending.

Bond sales data show Ohio reached 302.2 million dollars for 1964, achieving 100.2 percent of the quota. Clermont County posted December E and H bond sales of 25,433 dollars, reaching 85.5 percent of its annual target. Charles Schneider chaired the bonds effort and reported the figures.

Harsha urges VA probe over facility closures and cutbacks

Representative William H. Harsha of Ohio petitions the Veterans Affairs Committee to investigate the VA as facilities close and proposed cutbacks are pushed. He accuses the Administration of prioritizing automation over veterans care and calls for service to veterans over commercial plant operation. He warns such moves undermine Great Society goals and widens poverty efforts.

Open vote urged for Clermont County health board

The Clermont County League of Women Voters asks for open voting in selecting health board members, backed by the Medical Society Auxiliary. The Health Advisory Council will fill a vacancy caused by Harry Clark’s resignation. Diana Schwartz’s term ends March 1, with candidates including G Schulze. Businessman Dies Rites Set in Batavia

Clermont district earns superior rating at annual meeting

Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District received a superior rating from the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts at its Columbus meeting on January 20. George Rooster, vice chairman of the Clermont Board of Supervisors, accepted the award from Harold Dobbins, the federation secretary.
